Well done John,a good day out and the weather is coming good ,about time to, so you haven't been using those blue-ring Monteville garden worms, they were good bait back in the day,BUT the Cribb ISL, blood worms are good, we lived next door to BILLY GRAY at Cribb isl, many years ago he was the local wormer at that time ,his Boys and i fished the flats for whiting and flathead, good old day's, the B,GEES WERE THERE AT Cribbie School with us as well, as 12/13 year old's a great place to grow up. Other people will remember THE Red and White bus line owned by BILL WHITE they ran through to the city, down passed the golf course at Nudgee.GOOD OLD DAY'S. The old Pile Light WAS A TOP SPOT FOR BIG WHITING AS WELL. Cheers Chris

I was only trialing The Meridian Estuary Sensor Tip - It is OK but I still prefer the Jimmy Cranes. I think the Estuary Crane Bream rod will be similar to a Jimmy Crane.

Could you do a quick run-through of your rigs and what bait you're using please John??

When whiting fishing I only use Cribb Island Blood worms. I use a number 5 sinker (In some situations I may drop down to a number 4) and a long trace of about 4 - 6 feet. I use a 6lb main line and trace. I use mainly number 6 or number 4 hooks. My trace gradually shortens because with a number 6 hook is usually left in the whiting.

My main rods are Jarvis Walker Jimmy Crane Light. They are 8'6" but unfortunately they do not manufacture these anymore.

I will be purchasing a Jarvis Walker Meridian Estuary Crane Bream rod very soon to compare against the Jimmy Crane. I used a Meridian Estuary Sensor Tip on Friday - it is OK but nothing like the Jimmy Crane.
