@@neansath I enjoy the length (and the girth ;) ) because I listen at work. I find if I come back later and forget what hes talking about i can just go back 5 minutes and jump back into it. It's like an old DoS game. Dry, little graphics, requires a lot of user effort to figure it out, but pretty damn good underneath the crust.

There is something really disturbing about this video. Some horribly unlucky fan with only three weeks left to live was shown Rise of Skywalker early. Not only would it be the last movie he would ever see, he was forbidden from saying a word about it to anyone. He could only sit and watch, and know all that was to transpire. That is some “I have no mouth and I must scream” shit right there.

I think my mother started seeing the new Star Wars trailers a couple of years ago. She started buying me SW merch like R2-D2 shower soap and Kylo Ren pajamas as Christmas presents. I finally saw it on a whim this weekend (waited for a non-chinese subtitled version). It was even worse than I had expected. No wonder everyone stopped talking about it after like a week. It felt like disney had rich evans brainstorm all the dumbest possible things to put in a star wars movie, and then handed that over to alex kurtzman to rewrite, after kathleen kennedy thought it was way too cerebral for general audiences.

I tried finding any of the articles, including going through all of the articles of one the journalists whose name was included and couldn't find any. the only other option is I super suck at searching which is certainly possible

Flashtar what do you mean Solo was a flop? It was one of the highest grossing movies of that year! Just because it didn't make ALL the money in the world x2 doesn't automatically make it a flop. It got generally positive reviews and made 213 million in the U.S. Box office. Although I suppose nuance is out of the question when talking about Star Wars lately.

@@Shenaldrac That's the budget for the film probably ignoring the money spent on toys, merchandise, and most importantly ADVERTISEMENT. If we assume half of the upper bound 300 million budget went to advertisement then they definitely only broke even by some 50 million dollars, not even half the budget made. If I assumed a quarter of the budget went to advertisement they wouldn't even had made money back. A flop to be sure.

Obo299 Nerd culture is corporatized, reactions are manufactured, Hollywood is soulless, there’s nothing new under the sun, etc. It’s not cynicism run rampant per se, but I’d be lying if I didn’t see a lot of the fanbase’s cynicism as being just as soulless as the stuff they’re lampooning here. Idk, it feels pretty joyless and so it’s not very fun for me to watch.

It’s not that I think satire and critique don’t help-these guys have some brilliant satire and critique on their channel, just check any of their Plinkett reviews on the prequels or their takedown of Adam Sandler. When their heart is in it, it shows. It just doesn’t show here, hence the joylessness.
