Trumpet player for 17 years. The Neruda is far and away my favorite concerto. I have listened to dozens of performances. This is absolutely my favorite that I have ever heard. Your ornamentation is the best I've come across: delicate yet very pronounced, personal yet adding to the inherent nature of the piece. Also, the orchestra's support of you as a soloist is unmatched. Bravo, bravo, bravo! Thank you so much for sharing this!

I loved that cadenza. This is inspiring to hear it played on the instrument it was written for, as I am a trumpet player, and I will try to imitate this sound when performing this from now on. Many thanks from England.

Je préfère grandement ce concerto sur le "corno da caccia". La sonorité est plus ample et ronde que la petite trompette en Mib. C'est infiniment plus agréable à écouter.

It is a beautiful sound. I'm also a trumpet player - it's not hard to see why someone might favour a cornet or flugelhorn for this piece though. Scholars have said before how the flugelhorn has the most similar sound - although sometimes it's hard to take us away from the instrument we love and favour. My renditions (on trumpet) will also be influenced from this video - many thanks :-)

This sounds much more natural and relaxed, perhaps it is the strings now that sound too brilliant and modern.

I believe its called a "corno"( not sure on the spelling) and I forgot what is it tuned it. (Perhaps Bb??) I saw a trumpet player use this in a master class. I think of it as a piccolo French horn.

This is a Furst Pless Horn. A Bb pitched posthorn. A trumpet wrapped into a shape of a horn

I think and feel this music would be from the early classic. The baroque end at 1750 and this composer born in 1707. Surely tha composition would be later of 1750. Is that correct?

from what I can hear the violins play (f meaning flat and n meaning natural): si(n) do sol do re mi(f) fa sol la(n) si(n) do re si(n) sol la(n) si(n) do re fa sol fa fa mi(f) re do sol laaaaa(f) sol fa fa mi(f) mi(f) re mi(f) re So this rising scale is c minor melodic since both the a flat and b flat have been turned into a natural and b natural.

Why? It's no different that a Bb trumpet, cornet or flugel horn (which is the closest to the instrument he is playing.

Si lo dices en español seria corno de caza. En italiano, tromba da caccia. Sobre japones, coreano, o vietnamita, ni idea!
