This happened to me exactly. I went to get my wisdom teeth out and my surgeon told me while I was in the chair that I was actually only getting out my top 2 because my bottom 2 were impacted and near nerves. They scared me like crazy, saying I shouldn’t get them out but I wanted them out because they were causing me jaw pain. They basically made me feel like there were no options for me. I went to another more experience dental office that had this machine that was mentioned in the video and they said that the nerve is actually quite far from my teeth and that they have a good amount of room to perform the surgery without touching the nerve. Just got out of surgery yesterday but so far I dont feel any numbness and although I’m swollen, no complications so far! 👍🏼

I had no guardian, I didn’t even eat hell he said nothing about how the procedure was going to go other than that it was going to take an hour. The pressure was too much on my jaw and I literally started crying mid session. Am definitely going to get the vitamin B and someone did mention the tumeric tea but it just didn’t make sense to me. I had a tooth that cracked (upper molar next to K9) so i had a oral surgeon remove the tooth. When they removed the tooth it appears they jammed part of the cracked tooth down into a nerve while trying to get the spoon under the tooth to pry it out and by doing so they damaged the nerve and now I go through severe daily pain for about an hour almost every day.. Even though they gave me shots of novacane before the extraction, I still went through severe pain while they performed the extraction, which I believe was from the cracked part of the tooth being driving down into the nerve.. When I went back to the same surgeon for my follow-up, they told me the nerve is damaged and there is nothing they can do for me and I should just go see my regular family doctor.. Meanwhile I still suffer pain daily.

My doctor put me on steroids what else can we both do at this point? I have nerve damage on the right side of my lip, chin, tongue. I have constant extreme pain and have to take Tylenol around the clock. I had to have all 4 of mine removed and a bone graft done also… recovery has been terrible. I didn’t expect this at all. I pray you get better and who ever is going through his has a full recovery. Wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone ever!!!

My surgeon NEVER TOLD ME the risks, and im so scared. It is day 2 s/p the tooth extraction, and most of my lower lip i cant feel on the right side, as well as my bottom right teeth and gums, and most of my right chin, I have a lisp now as well. Im so upset these risks weren't discussed with me, because if they were, there's no way I would have gone through with this. He was SO ROUGH with my tooth trying to get it out, I am so afraid the damage is permanent. I do have some feeling in most of those places, but very little unless I am practically stabbing myself, then I feel some pain. What should I do?

@@vmd0734 it actually only took 1 day for me. I had no feeling in the left side of my lip and chin. I woke up this morning with all of my feeling back. It will be different for everyone but there is probably no need to be concerned about permanent damage since that's a worse case scenario. My surgeon has 30 years experience in removing wisdom teeth and thats still a risk i had to take in order to avoid infection in the future. Just keep some ice on your face and stay on schedule with any prescriptions you were given. Time heals all wounds

I had my 2 wisdom teeth pulled last week. I am experiencing stiffness still to the back of the jaw area but my main concern is nerve damage from the front right side of my lip and chin area. Although it feels numb I have agonizing pain on the inside (the nerve itself) medication isn’t helping. I went back to my doctor and he just said “oh it’s weird that you have pain normally you wouldn’t have pain if it’s numb. He set another appt for 8 weeks out. Yet I am still in pain every day, get bad headaches when waking up, I can’t speak properly or eat solid foods still. I am desperate. And hoping it’s not permanent. Any suggestions on what I can do

Hello Doc! I am 22 years old I am getting all 4 wisdom teeth out at once in July. (Pretty far out) but when I went to the oral surgeon he had said there is a 1% - 2% chance of nerve damage. Should I be worried?
@Andrei-oq5rx
Жыл бұрын
no you should not be worried. he was honest with you. you should not get them out at once in one surgery. two at a time at MOST. also if you signed your informed consent and accepted the risks, you should not blame the surgeon or sue him if you get numbness of any sort. understand this is a SURGICAL PROCEDURE with RISKS and should there be any problems it is not fair to sue someone just so you can feel better
@marissahugo22

@@Andrei-oq5rx hahah I never said I was going to sue the oral surgeon.. wth??? I haven’t even gotten them out yet. I never SIGNED any sort of paperwork regarding what the oral surgeon had told me either. ALSO that is what my insurance approved me of is to get all 4 out at once. Also why is it a BAD idea to get all 4 out at once, you’re no doctor I highly doubt.

I just got mine out yesterday, which was about 31 hours ago. My tongue is still numb at the tip and the top right side. My oral surgeon did a ct scan, just like the one in this video, and also told me about the 1-2% chance of nerve damage. I think he said there was a 2% chance of any nerve damage at all, but then of those people, it's permanent in only a portion. I'm hoping my nerve will heal eventually. I think those chances that are given are the overall average risk, but it's important to know your own individual risk, because your nerves could be farther or closer to the tooth. Unfortunately, I think one of my nerves was a little too close, even though he did the ct scan. But he did not show me how close my nerves were on the ct scan; he only showed me on the x-ray while he was explaining the risk.

@incognitocat555

@@marissahugo22 I was really nervous, too, and you definitely have a real risk here, so being nervous is totally valid. If I could go back in time, I would ask my doctor to explain the risks to me again, and to elaborate on my own individual risk, as it relates to how close my nerves are to my teeth on the 3D CT scan. I would also ask him how often nerve damage has been reported to him after work he has actually done. For example, is that 1-2% accurate for him, or is he more or less risky with his patients. For example, my dad had heart surgery a long time ago, but his cardiac surgeon was one of the best, and even though some patients die during heart surgery, the surgeon said he had not lost even one patient in his 30 years of doing heart surgeries. My dad lived, of course. Some doctors are much better than others. That's the advice I'd give you. Go talk to him again, and ask him more questions. Also read his reviews online. However, my oral surgeon's reviews can't really be trusted, because when I went in yesterday to have mine removed, I saw a sign sitting on the counter saying they'd give you a $10 Amazon gift card in exchange for a 5-star Google review.

drealistically, as long as you were informed pre-surgery as a patient, you signed your informed consent and accepted your treatment plan, even if you get long lasting numbness (paresthesia) you should not sue your surgeon, 1 because you already accepted the risks and 2 because even if they DID their best, it is still almost inevitabile in some cases to get numbess. and we do understand your pain and struggle, but a dentist should not go through his daily workflow having to risk going through a trial just because you want to get some cash to feel better. honestly, you should have said no and not get a lawyer to suck money of someone when you said you understand the risks. no offence to any patient
