@xenos_n.
Жыл бұрын
@@JamesEvansTheGreat well to be fair it's a late 80's-early 90's aesthetic. By the time the early 90's rolled around this aesthetic was already getting old within the zeitgeist but it was going full force in the commercial realm which tends to happen right before it completely burns out and dies off. As a kid I remember seeing all of this stuff in early '90s video games and thinking "this is so 80's".
@JohnDoe-wq5eu
Жыл бұрын
@@xenos_n. Something I've heard that I think is definitely true is every decade tends to bleed over into the next decade. So even though the '80s ended with the 90s they kind of ended up continuing for another few years. I definitely remember certain things/trends surviving and continuing till at least 92 or 93 maybe even 94.

This is one of those games that if you just go and start playing without the instructions and trying to play like Contra or Ninja Gaiden, you just get crushed, but if you play the game by its rules in the way it was designed, it gets kind of awesome. I always liked the giant bosses, which are high-end on the NES. Maybe not Isolated Warrior good, but that game may have some of the very coolest bosses on the NES.

Wanna hear a funny story? Got this game for one of my birthdays from my grandmother. We went to Walmart and pick it out. Like 60$ back in 1990, a lot for a old lady. Well the game didn't work after the first level. Even exchanged it. Didn't work. So I was blamed of breaking my nes including asking my GM for a expensive item. No matter how and what I tried to show them it wasn't me or anything I did. Never got a present or celebrated my birthday since. 30+ years.. . Oh what that little incident has done and altered the course of my life........

Hey BOW I've been lurking around your channel and watching your videos. I know this channel centers around NES and other Retro Games but do you also play more Modern Games or are you exclusively a Retro Gamer? Im a Huge fan of Sega's Yakuza Series. They're Big Semi Open world mostly Beat em Up Games. that go between a Serious Story and Utter Ridiculousness. There's all kinds of Mini Games including some Classic Sega Arcade Games. Kiryu is the Main Character of Many of the Games and there are threads that connect the Games but you don't really need to play all of them to understand the stories of each of them. If you want to give them a try Id recommend starting with Yakuza 0 as it's a Prequal to the rest of the series. They're Great Games and I've played them all.
