Thank you Sarah! I just had this with my baby bunnies. I don’t raise for meat, I raise pedigreed English Lops. I follow your channel avidly and social feeds and when I googled the issue and this video came up first. I followed your tips!!! I’ve shared your vid to my breeder groups on Facebook too. Thanks again.

Really enjoying your rabbit series. For someone not wanting to use Colloidal silver. An old remedy ~ Our grandmother used an eyewash with equal parts of warm (not hot) milk and honey to soothe and treat conjunctivitis/pink eye or weeping eye/crusty sleep eye in children. It's wonderful you make people aware of the things that could happen when raising rabbits. Thank you! 👍

I love how clear your videos are - this one no exception. Another commenter asked about how the rabbits in tractors do in the rain (btw, heavy downpour you got there!). What about snow? I'm thinking about using your series on rabbits to raise some rabbits of my own but this year we had a lot of snow and it stayed on the ground for weeks at a time. I'm thinking I'll just harvest the rabbits before the snow comes, keeping a doe and a buck over winter so I won't have to deal with bunnies in the snow.

Hi A subject that comes up every once in awhile while researching raising rabbits is disease. My question is : could you make a video about the subject including types and causes and what to look for to make sure they grow up healthy? Like an A to Z inspection. I know you speak a bit of this in one of your videos but I'm a routine freak and I would appreciate to actually see what you do when you do one. Thank you :)

Awesome video! Thanks! Btw for pink eye you can also use boric acid (pharmaceutical grade) dissolved in water super diluted. Didn't even know about coconut oil for that but makes sense.

Sarah, I have watched your rabbit series-It is awesome and I have started my own since, I purchased "beyond the pellets" and love it. I was wondering if you could recommend a resource book for rabbits that I could purchase (using your amazon connection of course) that maybe you use to lookup things like illnesses, prevention of problems, treatments of problems, mosquito control etc... I am new to rabbits, began 2/2018 and have my first litters now.

Hmm....This was very interesting. It all makes sense, but I've never seen it in all the years I've raised rabbits. (A VERY long time). Definitely good to know what to do if this new thing popped up tho. Could it be directly related to the choice of nesting material? I use pine shavings for a bottom layer, but I screen out the fine stuff first. Then I throw in a double handful of GRASS hay into the cage a day or so before kindling. The doe can then either eat it or drag some into the nest box. About half use SOME. I'll query Chris over at SR also.
@LivingTraditionsHomestead

+singleman It's most common in winter because the kits burrow down inside the nesting material rather than lay on top. Dust can get in the eyes as can bacteria.
@singleman1986
6 жыл бұрын
Thx. Then I'm lucky that I take a break from breeding each Winter. I use that time to cull out a third of my 'less productive' rabbits, (and harvest wild ones), while allowing younger rabbits to mature for Spring breeding. It's just myself to provide for so I only breed in Spring and mid Fall.
