Hi was just wondering could I fit one of these to the side gate of my house ?? Are both sides of the unit waterproof?
@JLHomes
4 жыл бұрын
Darren Mullally hey Darren! I would not consider both sides water proof. If you can find a way to enclose the inside half, the keypad portion is quite weather-proof.

note to newbies: you don't have to use a drill for everything, especially unscrewing door locks. And screwing - you don't want to over tighten and strip screws.

Thank you for this video. I do not currently have a yale lock, but am planning and budgeting to get one soon. One of the things that held me back from purchasing was wondering how difficult installation would be. Now I know that I can come back to your video and watch it before I install mine. Thanks

...And when your battery is dead or the electronics fail you're SOL and locked out. Instead, I prefer the smart locks that use your existing keyed deadbolt or that have a keyed deadbolt that can match the other keyed entry points to your property.
@JLHomes
6 жыл бұрын
That is one downside to being "tamper free." There is still a way to access if the battery is dead. There is an access at the bottom where you can use a 9V to "jump start" it, if you will. But I suppose there is always the possibility for electronics failing. That's why I have a code lock with keyed deadbolt on my back door. ;)

JL Homes We removed all our exterior keyed locks for interior only handset locks and deadbolts, and replaced only our front door and interior garage door with anti-bump commercial grade Schlage locks e.g. like Everest (vertical and horizontal pinned) .. to the outside.

I have 5 doors on my house. Can I lock/unlock them all at once with one button press?
@JLHomes

oisiaa I don’t believe so. They will all appear as different locks on your app and will be designated to the different locations you label them.

What does the Nest Connect do? Would I need it if I don’t use the Nest security system?
@uttiya10
6 жыл бұрын
zamboni68 the nest connect lets you connect the lock to your wifi. It's a seperate device so the lock doesn't have to use so much power to use wifi. You will need it if you don't have the security system.

Is the sound only on the outside?
@JLHomes

Yes. My wife thought there was a woman outside our door one time. You can control the volume at three levels with the app. I will say it sounds pretty muted from the inside, even at the highest level.

Uses mesh to connect all the parts
@JLHomes
6 жыл бұрын
You can use the product independently but it would essentially just be a code lock. The "connect" (or "guard) is what lets you use it with the app and connects it to wifi. You would think after several years of development it would all be built in. There are a few key features I wish it had, especially considering other locks on market. to be discussed in a review video soon!

Because it's partnership with nest not a nest lock. The Yale assure is pretty much the same lock with Homekit
@basdfgwe
6 жыл бұрын
I doubt it can be built in for a while, the main problem is power consumption. Until they crack that it is better to have the dongle to connect from a powered to low powered lock.
