I use the docker-compose YAML file on Github. The only thing that is different from the one you showed in your video is that you have an extra line /sys/fs/cgroup:/host/sys/fscgroup:ro in your docker file which I don't use. I also had the bind volumes at the left-bottom of my docker file which I don't see on the video. On the environment section my PGID=0. These are the only 3 differences we have and I can see the name of my containers without any problem. I could see them when I added the /var/run/docker.sock line. Without the line, you only see the hash number of the containers

Yeah, someone further down mentioned a better way to get the names to show up, but that line was what did it for me. Glad you got it to work without the need for the extra stuff.

I found this very useful, thanks. I actually work in netdata (on ml) and am always interested to see how users are using it and have them teach me more about monitoring and observability :)

To get the docker container names through the proxy working add - DOCKER_HOST=proxy:2375 to the environment variable in netdata learn.netdata.cloud/docs/agent/packaging/docker#docker-container-names-resolution

I found it easier adding the docker.sock as read only volume: /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock:ro

Loved this vid really helped me decide on what I want to use on my system. Are you able to make a vid comparing "Zabbix" and "Prometheus" ?

Zabbix is already on my future list, but I'll take a look at Promotheus for the future as well.

hi thank you very much. My glances does not show containers though like yours does, and googling it seems people are saying this is a bug with the GUI version, but i can see it works in yours. Any advice on this please ? thanks, sorry i just notices no TCP connections in mine either. this does seem strange indeed
@AwesomeOpenSource

I don't recall having to do anything special, but if you have TCP ports blocked that Glances is using to read the docker.socket, then that may be why. Just hard to know.

Man, is there any LUG in Del Río? I'm a big fan also been using Linux for like 11-12 years now. On the subject of this video you can pick or auto claim nodes to NetData Cloud basically automatically as you spin them up all you need is to make sure you use different hostnames for each one.. It amazes me that it's all free.. It works pretty well I offer support to some small ISPs in Latin America and I left a couple of NetData container running on a couple of them so I can monitor remotely without having to create a vpn or anything like that.. Netdata Cloud does it for me.

No LUG In Del Rio. I'm still active in my LUG in Lubbock. We meet once a month, and it's all online right now anyway, so it's been great.

You may need to be sure it has access to the docker socket. Map a volume for /car/docker.sock I believe.
