If you're doing this in the sandbox remember that the account ID (ex: 123453-sb1) is going to be capitalized and replaced the hyphen with an underscore (ex: 123456_SB1)

@@kobypichkhadze2868 Good point, the safe bet is just to copy from ACCOUNT ID field in company information, can't always count on sandbox abbreviation being "sb-x". Thanks and fantastic video.

There is no direct connection way to the NetSuite Reports. There are built in legacy reports and not even scriptable. You have to build your own queries using database schemes retrieved by the ODBC connection.

Hi, I have watched your video and found it awesome. Thank you for making it available. I got a doubt about the OBDC driver. Do we need to install the "SuiteAnalytics Connect ODBC Drivers" in the machine where SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is installed, or we can use straight "generic windows ODBC" to connect? Thank you.

Some questions if you can help.. Is it good to learn/continue with NS saved searches. Wonder which is easy.. 1. Using SQL and learning the table design/Schema etc or 2. go with default searches/reports? Am asking this as saved searches seemed unique when compared oracle EBS..?? Or long term sqldeveloper is better?
@kobypichkhadze2868
Жыл бұрын
They work in different contexts. In most cases, if you develop on NS side, you have to use Saved Searches/Analytic queries (Base NS Reports are not scriptable), but if you're a BI person and use some third party BI tool (out of NetSuite), that built for ODBC component, then you study NS Schemas and use this ODBC Tutorial.

Install MS SQL Server (Express version), follow the default settings. No need any special configurations. Then check first that you're able to run the server locally and make some simple queries. Once you ensured the server runs properly, go to this tutorial and follow all the steps.

First, thank you for a great video. I followed the directions, but have been unsuccessful. In the ODBC setup there's a new field "Hostname in Certificate". Do you have any idea what that should be? Also, "Service Data Source" must be selected from a list (at least that's what I think it's doing). When I click on it, I get an error message "...TCP/IP error, connection timed out". Any idea what could cause this? Thanks you!
@kobypichkhadze2868
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason. Just checked it again with the last version. Everything could be remain the same. You don't need to provide the value of the "Host Name in Certificate" field. The error regarding the time out issue seems to be some security connection problem internally on your PC. Just check your firewall or antivirus that might block the SQL engine ports. See my example here: tstdrv1234661.app.netsuite.com/core/media/media.nl?id=63162&c=TSTDRV1234661&h=277d8f0dfbde922a16ce

Can you retrieve cleaned data from a saved search via ODBC?
@kobypichkhadze2868
3 жыл бұрын
No. ODBC is like a direct connection to Oracle Database tables/schemas and read only. For pulling data from Saved Searches outside Netsuite System, we've developed a small integrated bundle/suiteapp based on REST API, so you can call to its endpoint and retrieve any Saved Search results from any platform that supports REST request.
