It is lovely to see you‘re giving the nettle the attention it deserves. When I was small, many years ago, my grandmother and mother would use nettle fabric to make aprons, as it was rough and hard wearing. My pony used to eat nettles in the hay, but he would nibble it upside down, as they don’t sting being handled that way.😊

This is such a pretty page, and apart from the simple “tools” you use to make a nettle, that just gives a perfect result, I love your way of showing your love for Nature 💗. It is so inspiring, so even I can now begin to see the beauty in a nettle, and not just the fear of being “attacked” if I see my grandchildren go to near. Thank you for sharing your love and showing the way🌷🌻🌺💗🥰

It’s a good representation of nettle. It grows all over the place on our 22 acres. It think it’s a plant that pops up in “disturbed ground.” We control it in some places, and let it run riot in others. I do not like the sting at all. It only takes the slightest touch to sting. I’d like to try dying with it. Back to the page: the Inktense backgrounds are serving you well. Your process for ironing on appliqués is genius. Beautiful! Yesterday you asked on Instagram what flower you are making, and I say: maybe a nettle. Not a real flower, like a rose, but they have the little green "things"what are the flowers. It is nice to see how you made this one. I made a nettle as big as they are, about 50-60cm. I painted the fabric, like you did, but I applique everything on the painted back fabric. I must make the little flowers, I will do French knots and some little beads. But I like your idea of painting. Did you try to make paper from a nettle? I did that, it works really well and looks beautiful. I cannot use it for writing or painting, but the "paper" is nice as a background for...???I don't know. Have a nice sunday.

I've ironed the back of the fabric with Bondaweb. It's a non woven web of glue that has a paper backing. You iron it onto your first fabric and then take the paper off. That exposes the other side of the glue which you can then attach to another fabric... It's also called Vlieseline ...
