Another doubt is in a geriatric age group where there is conduction velocity slowing uniformly which is a normal phenomenon whether we should report it as a demyelinative neuropathy or report it as a normal study ..

That's exactly why Clinical Neurophysiology is a combination of Clinical knowledge and skill together with the Electrical side to properly interpret the findings!

Dr Simon Freilich ...Thanks sir , Had a experience where by reporting this kind of pt. as a demyelinative neuropathy the general physician referred this pt. to a neurologist for further investigations in context to GBS and suddenly the referrals from the physician stopped 😀

Thanks! I work in the UK and we don't have a branch of medicine called Physiatry over here. I am aware of what it is, over in the USA, and their specialists are trained in general medicine and rehabilitation. Hence its no surprise that they have an interest in it. I don't know what percentage are trained in performing them. Similarly, I wouldn't know what percentage of Neurologists are accredited in performing them in the USA. In the UK, the majority of NCS are performed by dedicated specialists in Clinical Neurophysiology, with some performed by dual accredited Neurologists. Hope that helps, Bw Simon
