Fun fact about the track "Oh Comely", is that Jeff really did sing that in one take! That's why at the end of the track you hear someone from the studio yell "HOLY SHIT", because they couldn't believe he really did that. Also, Jeffs writing takes a lot of inspiration and imagery from his own tortured dreams and nightmares, wich is why the lyrics sound so magical, otherworldly and colorful.

Yup the voice heard saying “Holy Shit” was the voice of the drummer, his name is slipping my mind right now though.

Clue's in the first track. "From above you how I sank into your soul" is him reading her diary. He loves her through her intimate writing. Great review.

I think the yelling “I love you JC” at the start of the 2nd track is less religious and more exasperation and emphasis on his feelings

i literally had this exprience last night. i listen to a lot of music, like pretty much a new album everyday so I got used to new experiences but for some reason as soon as king of carrot flowers pt1 started playing and he started singing my eyes got watery. I don't know what I felt last night but its one of the purest feeling I have felt in a while

This is possibly my favourite album, and I love seeing people listening to it for the first time and trying to make sense of the Ann Frank references and random imagery. I can't even articulate why I love it or why it makes me feel the way it does, so seeing other people try is hilarious.

Another singer with an 'odd' vocal delivery is Jonathan Higgs from Everything Everything. Guy sounds like an emotional siren. Their album 'Get to heaven' has a terrorist theme running through it to catchy math rock/pop. Definitely worth a listen if you haven't already.
