---------
there are hands in the chaos
little and sticky stuck to me like glue
as they grasp for me in the darkness of night
begging me to give them the same stillness that I desire
i am never alone
not alone in my bed not alone in my head
for even when those hands aren’t touching me
i think of them
I will witness the stillness of night one day
no longer a thief of the silence when I swim in it
those once sticky hands grown sleeping in their own beds or tucking in hands of their own
I created those hands
so they are my hands too
how can a woman move through the world
without knowing where her hands are and what her hands do?
I will witness the stillness of night one day
no longer a thief of the silence when I swim in it
those once sticky hands grown sleeping in their own beds or tucking in hands of their own
and some will call this lonely
but how could a woman ever be alone
in the silkiness of solitude
with a lifetime of beautiful noise in her head
and fingers still stuck to her heart
