Short, good, usefully! while I miss your longer videos as you are a busy manager now, it's good you still keep your level with such usefully stuff. every day new riders appear and need information like that off course! Beside that, congrats to your new job!

Thanks for the reminding. I learnt the trick half century ago. That can save also the support on the handlebar, which if broken there is no salvation. Even I'm too old for off road I have always on my geriatric bike, a 650 NTV Revere, a pair of levers, and cables replacement plus the tool kit. As said by Murphy's Law article 1: Trouble happens always far very far away from any help and at the worst moment. We can add nowadays : And no signal at the smartphone.

The Main reason for me to cut the levers is to make room for fingers. I have no clue who designed clutch levers for all four fingers. I mean what the hell are they riding? A russian Tank?... How do you hold onto the grip even when you use all fingers to pull the lever? And how do you deal with the bruised fingers when you use only two to pull with those long levers? Generally it takes me one look at an enduro bikes clutch lever to determine if the person knows what he is doing or not ;)

I am a new rider and had my 310GS drop the other day with the clutch lever snapping off at the OEM breakpoint- I actually prefer the accidentally shortened one now!

Good tip. Also put teflon plumbers tape around the bars under your clutch and brake perch. Gives it a little chance to rotate on the bar rather than snap in a drop.

Congrats on the new job (dream job?). In an earlier video (about 1 year ago) you mentioned something about Morocco and a friend who earned his living in the tourism trade, a hostel owner maybe. In the video you asked of viewers to consider travelling there when the corona thing was over, and for some reason I kept it in the back of my mind. In your new position of "Adv Tour Manager", can you arrange a trip there? It would be so cool to see some proper Morocco adv. Is that a Suzuki 350? Back to the pleasure of light bikes, I see?

Just found your channel, and you have a new subscriber.. I now carry spare clutch and brake levers on the bike, but might do this mod. However I recently broke a lever and swapped it for the new spare lever, then welded up the two bits to repair the old one which is now the spare. Trouble is, it’s difficult to carry the welder on the bike! Les in UK

Hey Leslie, thanks for watching and subbing! :D I still carry spare levers (and other spare parts) on bigger journeys, but its nice to know that most times you can just keep riding and fix stuff later (or never xD)

Hey, thanks for watching! The DRZ is an all time favorite of the offroad adventurer! An awesome all rounder (not very comfortable to spend a lot of time on the road, but it will take you to the end of the world if you ask it to), 135kg +/-, reliable, very big and acceptable stock suspension, lots of upgrades and mods available, etc etc. Its always a good choice and a bike with high resell value :)

i always hack my lever like yours are at 1:56 . i usually use just one or two fingers to actuate my levers, but i leave just barely enough length so i can still get 3 fingers on a lever if im reallllly tired. than i put lever rubbers on to increase grip for my fingers. idk if god made my hands a funny shape , but short levers seriously reduce hand fatigue and cramping for me
