Kh3 at the end is a very interesting position. There are some quite interesting lines and both sides have to play relatively carefully. Best lines I can find without engines (and I'm not an expert, just decent at chess) lead to an endgame with White having a slight edge, but there are many things White has to avoid to reach that (and, granted, many things Black has to avoid as well). For example, if you do play the king to h3 after Qe2+, after Qf1+ Kh4 is a forced mate for Black. Black plays the knight to f5 with check. Running up the board (Kh5) loses to Qh3+, Kg6, and Black mates with the knight on e7. If you play to g4 instead, Black checks with the knight on h6, and all three options lead to mate. Kf4 loses immediately to g5++, Kh5 loses to Qh3+, Kg6, Qf5++, and Kh4 gives the most play but still loses to g5+, Kh5, Qh3+, Kg6, Qf5+, Kxh6, Qh7++ So even the first check from Black after Kh3 has to be considered. The only continuation I see for White that isn't losing, after Black plays Qf1+, is an immediate Kg4, and after Black pushes f5+, Kf4. This is a very difficult position to consider, and the best continuation for Black I can find is to push g5+, which White will capture, followed by Qxf3. The best followup for White I can find is to capture the knight, and while White ultimately has an edge, it's far from an easy position. Perhaps someone can analyze this in an engine to tell me if I'm missing something. After discussing with someone else, Black can force the draw after Kh3 with an immediate Qxf3. White can play Qxd6, but Black forces the draw between Qh5+, Qe2+, and Qe1+, none of which White can force an escape from and will eventually draw.
@kurtzipagan6704
4 жыл бұрын
Me I found that too but that's not the case,I think the real case is if king to f3,you don't check with queen f1 because king have g4 and white have no continuation and your Knight is still attacked so it's losing for white,instead of queen f1 check is queen captures b4,that knight is defended and you can't win a piece by playing Bishop c5 as the Bishop is pinned because the king is on g4,so when queen captures pawn happen,black can throw one check and after king to h7,there's nothing to be done,even milkimyan is a pawn up,Magnus can easily draw that game because of course he is magnus carlsen,he have insane endgame skills and think in a fast pace.
@kurtzipagan6704
4 жыл бұрын
So basically your all right,there's nothing move than these you said.
@Habreno
4 жыл бұрын
@@kurtzipagan6704 Indeed. If you had the position in games with lesser-rated players, you might push for trying to win with Black, since there are so many tricks in the position. An example is after you check with Qf1+, Kg4, f5+, Kf4, g5+, Kxg5, Black can play the knight to f7 with check. White has to see beyond the free pawn on f5 and play Kf6 (or Kg6). If White takes the pawn here (Kxf5), Qxf3+, and Black has a winning position. After white escapes the check with Kg6, Qg4+, Kf6, Qg5+, and it's the same as if white played Ke6 to begin with; Black wins the queen with the knight to d8, forking the king and queen. Very difficult to play the position as White, but you'd expect a GM to hold with White against Black's desperation attack.

The Queen cannot capture on c6. If she captures on c6, black has the move rac8. The Queen is trapped with only one available square - b7 - as all other squares are covered by the rook and the knight. If she moves to b7, this is losing as the rook infiltrates with rc2, threatening qxf2 checkmate; if the rook tries to defend the f pawn with rf2, the black rook simply captures the bishop with rxb2, and white has lost the bishop for a pawn with an awkwardly placed queen. If instead white tries to save the queen by threatening a queen trade with rook capturing rxd5, this also doesn't work as the knight protects the d5 square, nxd5 qxd5, and white has lost the rook for a knight.

It is either stalemate or checkmate for Magnus (if white messes up a lot, which I doubt). Magnus can force a check without risking queen for all but turn 2 in the next 10+. The A pawn falls and the rook can not take back or is lost back with check and tempo pulling the queen off the attack... It's a beautiful forced rook trade winning a pawn, even here... After doubling on the A file and moving the knight to further tie down and contest control of the dark squares and the bishop is now tied down to defense, and the queen is stuck out of the attack.

I would like to know too. My best guess is that he likes the look of his queen aiming towards g7 with his bishop behind it; if he can get that knight on f6 out of there somehow. As far as basic principles go, not that I'm an expert but putting the queen on c6 is a very exposed position, also it might be a 'slow' move for some reason we aren't seeing right now, that is, that one extra turn might be all it takes carlsen to set up a checkmate line, made possible by his opponent's truant queen, off celebrating a captured pawn, see what i mean? But again these are just guesses...
