it was great how well you and Craig just clicked like that. as a decorator, i know its nice when you work with someone experienced enough to just fill in your gaps and you fill in theirs (if that makes sense) you don`t need to explain what your schedule of works is, they can see it.. enjoying this channel, only recently found it tbh.

Also it’s great to see how well you’re doing and running things really smoothly, which speaks volumes for your determination and commitment to the job and to your customers. College tutor and boss are happy for me to take my epa 6months early. If it wasn’t for your page and another bricklaying page I wouldn’t have as much knowledge as I do🫡

New subscriber love this content have questions about repairs on 100 year old house with similar construction techniques. Q1. Wooden beams eaten by termites on first floor original beams were part of brick walls double brick construction. Center iron load bearing support with angle iron bolted to pickup ends of joist’s 2” overhang. If you are replacing the beams do you open the brick wall through to the outside insert the replacement joist set it on the steel and then replace the outside bricks? Or is there another method for doing the same job?

How long will the insulation between the walls last? In my country it is built differently, the insulation is placed on the outside of the wall and basaltic wool or extruded polystyrene is placed

Izzy, why are there some gaps in your cement course lines even after you have pointed them and cleaned them ,it's not all the time, but occasionally on the final reveal there are some places that look as though they are missing some muck, by the way I have never laid a brick in my life, I just enjoy people watching people doing their job with passion and being good at what they do...

Unfortunately props don’t really do much in high wind especially above first floor level. We’ve had entire roof trusses blow off in high wind, all braced up n’all

Unlucky, but like you said, it could have been worse. I live in a an area where the weather can be extreme, ive seen a few blow downs but thats with far stronger winds, its very common to have 35 km/ph plus here during winter it frequently exceeds 100 km/ph so lifts have to be well braced especially in winter months.

Brilliant tips for apprentices with the plumbing and ranging. Will be using those tips when I (re)start my blockaying in May. I've seen those blue bricks used for padstones before. Why are blue bricks used instead of the big, heavy, one-piece, concrete block padstones?

If you guys used 6 inch blocks they'd never blow down. All we use here is 8inch in USA but then again brickwork is dead here

We dont dont do the innerwalls with mortar annymore. We do it with a thin layer of a glue in powder with water. Its much stronger against wind. You place some steal braces with ankers and nothing will happen

Hi, when you put bricks and the length of first layer is fx. 5 meters, but does not fit length of X amount of bricks how do you proceed and how do you cut it to fit??? I mean you cant do half stone then whole stone shifts right? How do you make it all come together, when length of foundation does not match the length of the bricks? Love your channel... Thanks.

Hi mate great question. All you do is make your joints in-between the bricks slightly bigger or smaller to fit the footing or length of the wall what is required

With the apprentices as well, get them to buy a small ish trowel. 9/10inch, no point them going out getting a massive trowel untill they have learned the basics.

90% of the time on new builds there is a tray and weeps above ff windows even if the soldiers are the only masonry before the soffit. I have always thought they were unnecessary. Is it in the regs that less than 600mm masonry it's not needed?

Brilliant Izzy what a legend craig is. On a different them stabila levels are real pain in the ass with them protectors just a hindrance and limits use of the tool. Got 1 but bloody bit is getting multi tooled off 😆😆 didn’t get for the plastic bits but the bubble lower on 1 side that at times gets on ma tits also. 😆😆😆😆 on other note moving the berry yfood drink 😛 keep rocking it bigman.

Not a fan chocolate drinks hate coffee and salted Carmel so will swerve them lol. I'm not saying you didn't prop after but get your props on as soon as you've got chance, last week was windy and I had a small pillar go after 3 courses, wewere holding them while building and getting propped as soon as the last block went on. Got to be careful. Glad you both didn't get hurt
