When she's shocked about how far along she is, my brain immediately jumped to the "Crisis Pregnancy Center" episode of Last Week Tonight when John Oliver explained that these places deliberately lie so that women will think that they have more time than they actually do and end up in the same situation that Autum did at the first clinic.

Pretty appalling. The main character was harassed, abused and assaulted. She had no agency. Her answers to those 'never rarely sometimes always' questions was the turning point. She was not "having sex" since she was 14. She was being raped. It's true the movie has a realism feel to it. But most of the women I know don't act like that. They are extremely assertive. Autumn seemed intimidated by all the male characters around her.

Well, if she was being raped and that resulted in her being pregnant, then it would make sense that she's uncomfortable around men. Some women wouldn't be, but others would be. Depends on the person

I watched this movie because Chris Stuckmann picked this as one of his best 10 in 2020, and I'm glad I watched it. Sure, the main character is basically a bitch, but she's just 17 surrounded by people who take advantage of her as well as people who support her. I cried at a scene in the questionnaire. The questions were rather administrative, but it emphasized her realization of what she was dealing with.

I don't think of Autumn as a "bitch." She is just not popular, pretty and effervescent like Skylar, and has a dim view of herself, which is reinforced by how other people react to her. Low self-esteem? Yeah. She has a difficult decision to make. It's just too bad she isn't a stronger person.

Regardless of how you feel about the laws of various states, it was a bit sad that she felt unable to go to her mother about this. I don’t feel it’s totally out of bounds for a 17 year old to be required to let her parents in on such a n important decision. Did she plan to keep this secret forever?

What caught my attention was the ultrasound image of the "unborn(?)" baby. You can see the baby's limbs moving and can hear the heartbeat. The baby is temporarily living inside Autumn; getting ready to enter the world. But, for Autumn, being saddled with a child at her age would be, well, let's face it, an unwelcome burden. Autumn isn't popular and "hot" like Skylar, so these disadvantages, coupled with the presence of a baby, would severely limit her chances at a happy life. Right??

I can't stand the guy in the red flannel shirt. He sounds like the kid in class that didn't do the homework so speaks a lot n super fast but all he says is generic and empty. Also the fact he is smiling as he talks about sensitive subjects sorry couldn't go through the entire video

Great movie, the only real problem i had with it was that every single male character in it was just awfull. Sure i can understand we were on a journey through Autumns eyes and she didnt really had the best experience with men but still it felt a little too much, i mean every one, even minor characters were pigs and creepy as hell...
@Jhordanshmu

Watched it recently and agree 100%. For something so grounded in reality it was such an odd choice to portray all male characters as complete assholes, it always took me out of the movie unfortunately. Sad thing is that if you point this out, some people will take it the wrong way and think that we wanted the male characters to be great. They don't need to be good, but they can't all be written as laughably evil in something so hyper-realistic

@@dallascowboyshighlights9632 Yeah, but Skylar was hot-'n-ready to have some fun with the guy. Which is strange, because she is traveling with her cousin-not to be a 'boy-toy'-but to provide emotional support. Right?

Plenty of the women in that first clinic, and girls in her school were awful too. There isnt much help out there for teenage pregnant girls from working class backgrounds regardless of gender.
