Seemed that everyone who I knew got a trans flush ended up with there trans going out afterwards... change the fluid and the filter but maybe don't get it flushed... that's just my experience maybe someone else has better luck.... good luck folks

To be fair, most people only service their transmission once they notice a problem with it. By then, it is too late. Now, when you go and flush or even drain and refill the transmission, it will lose much of its clutch friction material that is suspended in the fluid. That being said, it is highly recommended to service fluid at least every two years or sooner depending on vehicle and usage. I briefly worked at a transmission rebuild shop and this was the way they did it.

Changed my filter, shift solenoids, and fluid and lost 4th gear on my 96 Chevy 1500 1000 miles later at 130k.

I went to my local transmission chain at 130K or so and they said just keep it full. I agree with OP. Fluid and filter change one schedule by don’t flush. My 2010 Accord with 180K miles is still running strong. Well as strong as the 2.4L ever was at least. 😂

I’ve been in auto service biz over 30 years now. I’d say that about 95% of my past customers needed a new trans or overhaul after performing a flush, but they were cars with 125k+ on ODO, and sure as shit the flush machine would dislodge something and then there would be a failure. Flushing can also blow out seals both externally and internally as well. Just do a trans service with filter every 30k miles, and never flush, not worth the risk nor high cost of a new transmission, which at todays prices are anywhere from $6k-$8k, and that’s domestic. You don’t even want to know what the European cars start at. I’m a warranty claims analyst, I see it all daily. Also keep your service receipts if you do have a warranty. We decline claims everyday because people can’t show proof they did it.

You know more and more transmissions are coming from the factory as "sealed units" right? As in dont service it add fluid or even look at it until it goes out unless it leaks ford 10 speeds running the ULV for example tons of mercedes stuff which has made its way into chrysler via things like sprinter vans etc.

The last time I had my trans serviced, including torque converter flush, the damn thing didn't shift right. Took it back, "oh that's the way it should shift". Wouldn't shit to 4th and torque lock up dead. Wan't $2500 for rebuild.

Took it to a local trans shop. He found seals blown/torn, (from pressure flush?)wrong filter with no seal & lockup wiring disconnected. He said the fluid was probably Plain F type not Mercon LV. Fixed it all and charged me $285. Told me exactly who at the dealership did the work. Apparently he did this shit a lot. Not anymore.

On CVT transmissions people neglect to service them finally do it and the transmission goes out shortly after flushes help get all the fluid out especially what’s left in the torque converter drain and fill doesn’t get out that fluid

Then why is the fill plug for my Silverado in a place were I've been told they need to drop the engine to flush the fluid?

Benefits are making money on replacing trans replacing after a 'flush". Do a filter service and fluid replacement. What the benefits of clean fluid and no new filter🎉🎉🎉
