Fascinating advice as always David. Funnily enough the power of storytelling came up recently in one of my classes where we were discussing mythology and how it functions as a persuasive tool and I brought up the storytelling chemicals. Also since you've now given advice on the beginning of a presentation, I'd love to at some point see a video on some tips for the ending of one, since I can see people having just as much difficulty on the end as the start.

I was terrible at presentations. Then I got a high position at my work, and it became a routine in my life. Imagine my despair! But, I'm not a bad writer. So I thought: if every story follows this "hero's journey", why not do my presentation like that? Started telling a comfortable before, then a strange situation, and then a solution? Basically the script for this comment. Now, I've been watching videos about public speaking and your channel is a great help, without a doubt! Never thought about this tip, writing down storys! Since I have ADHD, I never thought about using the public's dopamine as a start haha

I’m an NDIS Support Coordinator and after learning from you the art of communication via story telling. Participants have opened up a tiny bit of trust (and that’s all I need) so we can begin process of service linkages to other stakeholders. It is understandable for the participants to fund it challenging to open up and admit they need help as this is vulnerability but in time, as the window of trust opens wider we will get there.

This is GOLD, thanks David, struggle me with opening lines and stressing to say things in the beginning, instead of owning the room and taking time and I like the part opening with a question, especially since my Intune videos are for people who want to learn IT, huge thanks!

@@DavidJPPhillips Thanks, followed you since I discovered you on Framgångspodden and your content is amazing. Will do that, my next video is already recorded so too late there, but the one after that, for sure! will rewatch your video three times before I record mine, it boosts with energy just to look at your video, probably because you send out so much energy in your videos, thanks again

Just discovered your videos and generally great advice all around! I will call you out on #3 in this video though - as a sound tech who has worked in these environments for 15+ years, this simply doesn't happen. if your wireless mic did somehow have a strong-enough signal to pick up the transmitter from the bathroom to your presentation room, the sound technician would be quick to mute the channel. We all like to joke about the scene in Naked Gun, but its fiction.

I am an English speaker living in Sweden so I heard David who is my new favourite after Chris Voss. He sounds better in English than Swedish. Swedish is not a nice language even though it is better than Norwegian but Danish is sooooo ugly.
