Never the Same
The lines on my face are reminders
Of the trials and troubles I've known
The joy and the pain, it's an endless refrain
And it echoes the life that I've chosen
The smile and the frown lines together
With the silver that grows every day
Mark out the lines I've been walking
Without any words they can say
Chorus
Don't you smile, sit in your armchair and wonder
What could come of your life if you only had given it time
We all have a part we can play, someday we'll look back and say
It goes on forever, we're always and never the same
She's given up on the bikinis
Says that half shirts were only a phase
Some scarves in a drawer, all tattered and torn
Could bring back her bellydance days
But she doesn't like showing her body
Now that children and stretch marks arrived
Till one day she looks in the mirror
And decides that this is her time
*Chorus
He pulls down the brim of his ballcap
And spits on the ground at his feet
His wondering eyes stare at the horizon
The places he wanted to see
There's no guarantee of tomorrow
So he sets aside all of his plans
He stores and he sells till he stands by himself
It's time to start over again
