You know, there was something magical about this game. In the 00' there were released most of the best games in history. I played that time great games like Rayman series, Quake, The Settlers and so on, but this was my first RPG. Like REAL RPG to the flesh. I exactly remember launching it for the first time and hearing the music from menu. This was like an invitation to the world of games. Games that aren't just a simple joy, but full-fledged pieces of art. It's so easy to get immersed when you are young, and being a little boy and hearing this masterpiece was literally like touching another world, some magic and mystic. The feeling like "this is going to be a big deal" from the first seconds. Last time I was so impressed and taken was playing Dark Souls, I've fallen in love instantly hearing music form character creation menu...

I agree with you in almost everything. but to be fair there are pretty good games rn. as you said, dark souls. And now its comming out elden ring and some other really good games. Still, I have to agree and say that overall thoses times were the times where quality/quantity of the games were the best. Just the example os PS2. The amount of games that are really good is ridiculous. PS2 has so many masterpieces! sure that ps3 and ps4 has pretty good games. but the list comparing with ps2 is small asf. what I feel is that in those times games were made with more love. and dont forget there wasnt DLC's, and devs couldnt just fix game issues with updates.

Games got too popular and now the developers/investors want to appeal to everybody. Blizzard is the perfect example of this. Blizzard only makes moderately entertaining games that anyone can enjoy for a month before forgetting about forever. They do not take risks. They don't try to test new ideas. They figure out a formula, and stick to it. And because of this, they've never made a horrible game either. They'll never make another amazing game that can rival Warcraft 3, Diablo 3, or Original WOW.

Jeremy Soule is the John Williams of epic game music. Period. There are others I love, like Inon Zur, but Mr. Soule did a heck lot of scores, from the Elderscrolls themes, to NWN and multiple MMOs. But he *really* spiked my interest because very early in his career, he did the soundtrack for TOTAL ANNIHILATION. And that soundtrack is the epitome of epic- and awesomeness! Thinking about it, I may just tune in to one of the tracks on YT right after I finished this senten...

The thing that I loved most about Neverwinter Nights is that even though you really don't do much in the combat, but the animations are so nicely done and actually put detail into the combat instead of "BLOCK, SLASH, BLOCK" that it's interesting to watch, and makes you proud of your character. Bring back these glory days of old, BioWare!

I remember around 14 years ago when I was young my friend got this game cause it was D&D stuff and we freakin loved it, I saw him play and it was a blast. after a while I asked if he could borrow me the game. But sadly my pc was too weak and couldn't run it. So the only thing that really got to experience for myself was that black installation window with the logo for the game and this music playing on the background. Now saw that GOG has the complete edition with DLCs and all, while there's nowhere else to play the game. Thanks GOG, I going on an adventure.

It really is. It's so criminally underrated. I feel Atari is a big part to blame for that. They made Obsidian release this game way too early which didn't give Obsidian the time they needed to stamp out the major bugs that plagued this game. The fact the original campaign was so buggy just killed it for a lot of people. If people would have been able to play it relatively bug free, it would have been a hit and people would have definitely seen it as superior to the first and quite honestly the best D&D rpg to ever come out. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the classic hero's journey/monomyth and it's fantastic. Never has an rpg really made you feel like nothing when you start out and then put you through this amazing adventure to become a powerful lord with your own keep defending it as well as the land from an ancient evil and his undead hordes. It is so amazing.

All I can say is it was very moving and powerful. Of course Ive played every D&D computer game ever made. I still play NWN2 on a PW called Baldurs Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast Chronicles. It has a very large following of up to 70 players online at the same time. A very very well done server with lots of DM activity, extreme RP, low magic world, and extreme gratification!!!!!
