The price of bikes has gone crazy. If I had 10k to drop on a bike I would be getting a custom job from the likes of Bastion, Firefly etc. At least you are getting something unique that’s exactly to your specifications for the money.

@The Schadenfreudist consumers in this market spend to show their wealth. The more you buy, the more obvious you can display it. It’s like 🦚 peacocks. They aren’t bright either. Kind of mean.

@The Schadenfreudist I’d bet that cycling specific carbon fiber engineering is better in Taiwan than anywhere else in the world. Just because the cost of labor is less expensive doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a worse product. However, I do agree that a bike costing $10,000 should basically be a custom sized and spec’d design and as consumers we shouldn’t be encouraging major manufactures that bicycles costing five-figures should be a norm in any sense of the imagination.
@rikkiola

@The Schadenfreudist How do you define worth? In economic terms, something's worth is what the market is willing to pay for it, right? A house 10 years ago may only have cost 50% of it's asking price today, does that mean it's not worth its cost these days, even those it's the same house? Nothing has an inherent value, it's market-driven (EDIT: though I agree that the price/margins are pretty crazy!)

Interesting that Wilier have kept with the lightweight vs aero model line-up, even though there's not much difference in weight, whereas Spesh realise the models have pretty much converged, now, with modern tech and production methods. Is this to cash in on what must still be slightly different consumer tastes (traditions?) of aero vs lightweight!?

Yo Francis you have your bikes mounted on your wall on the two armed wall mounts, pretty sure yours are from huxlo. I built my own out of wood as there blueprints are on their website but I cant for the life of me get it to stay on my wall. I'm curious how you get yours to stay up, I've got a pretty light bike but still mine just isn't sturdy enough, maybe yours is in a brick wall or something equably unbreakable. Anyone else got any ideas or tips it would be seriously appreciated (mounting in plaster board)
