I believe I made a comment on your video when you bought the Knarr that you may run into problems with hull integrity. I owned two Jackson Big Rig's and had a scupper tear in the same spot on both. Not saying Jackson doesn't make a good kayak, their Coosa is outstanding from what I hear, I just think they have a problem with big boat designs. I moved to a Nucanoe last season and couldn't be happier. Congrats on your new boat!

Alex what an awesome kayak!! I’m in my 40s and absolutely love running kayaks but I have definitely had some big issues that I can’t find in a kayak for me!!! I’m only 4’10” tall and with all the kayaks I have looked at they are all for guys that are much taller than me with some adjustable capabilities but not enough to fit my likings!!! For real I have always thought of someone is going to make something for others to use they should definitely be able to make something for absolutely everyone and there likings or needs!!! I definitely don’t want to go out and spend 2,000.00$ to 4,000.00 dollars on something that definitely doesn’t fit me well and that I can’t run or can run but definitely uncomfortable witch leads to issues with your body!! I would definitely love for Hobbie kayaks to make something for shorter guys for sure!!! I am definitely 1 of 1 that had issues when I was 2 years old witch definitely did not let me grow like everyone else does normally and trying to find things that work for me definitely has been a big issue over many years!!! I absolutely love fishing but I definitely can’t get some of the fish that I no are out there from the bank fishing all the time!!! I also no a kayak can definitely get up into cover where bigger boats or even smaller boats can’t get into and that is just one of the reasons I love fishing out of a kayak for!!!

Awesome setup, they definitely know what they're doing! Curious why you went with Hobie + a motor over the AP 120/136? Was it mostly not having a backup if the motor fails on the AP?
@AlexRuddFishing

Great question. The biggest thing is mobility in current. That AP is not super responsive or is it as powerful. When I’m running back up against current the mobility of the foot steering with the NK is key.

Romel recommended the 180 when I still had my Knarr so I just transferred it over to the Hobie. From the time I’ve had on the water with it it’s been great. The 300 has more torque so I will upgrade in the future.

The NK180 performs wonderful on the PA14, I put over 300 hours on mine with the NK180 last year in Florida. 70% throttle cursing speed was about 4.5 mph, i run a Amped Outdoors 24v 50amp hour battery and never came close to running it down. Fished many 6 to 8 hours days and covered 10 to 12 miles or more at times. I don’t believe the little bit of extra speed and weight you have to carry with the 3rd battery is worth it to justify the bigger NK motor, just my opinion. You’ll love that yak, enjoy.
