Europe's Toyota Yaris Cross has received a mid-life update with more power, a revised look and new technology.the Yaris Cross has become the best-selling Toyota model in Europe. Around 200,000 units were sold across Europe in 2023 alone.
Toyota has detailed a suite of updates to tech and safety features for the small SUV which includes the addition of a 12.3-inch customisable digital instrument cluster on higher spec models (lower spec models come with a 7.0-inch display) as well as a 10.5-inch infotainment screen.
The GA-B platform provides the basis for a new generation of Toyota small cars. Here, all heavy components are arranged as low and centrally as possible, which, in combination with a highly rigid body, enables stable and quiet driving behavior.
Externally, the refreshed model retains the appearance of its predecessor, with the addition of a new Juniper Blue color option to the palette. The top-tier Premiere Edition trim stands out with its exclusive Urban Khaki hue, complemented by matching interior accents and a fresh set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Both the Premiere Edition and GR Sport trims leverage the enhanced hybrid powertrain, with the latter featuring a sportier chassis setup courtesy of Gazoo Racing.
This is paired with the brand’s latest multimedia system that Toyota says includes more advanced voice recognition capabilities, over-the-air updates, and also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As well as this, the European Yaris Cross also now comes with a ‘digital smart key’ giving up to five users the ability to lock, unlock and start the vehicle with their phone.
In terms of safety, Toyota has detailed a raft of new features and updates, which include a new camera and radar system which the brand says can scan further and wider than before as well as detecting pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles.
Starting with the new powertrain option, the Hybrid 130 pairs the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine with a more potent electric motor, yielding a combined output of 130 hp and 185 Nm of torque. The power boost improves the 0-100 km/h acceleration which is now completed in 10.7 seconds .
The less potent Hybrid 115 option remains available with 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque.
In Europe, this will be offered in the GR Sport and new Premiere Edition.
