Nice Trek bikes - now how about some nice Trekking Bikes (I know you sell them) for example the best method of route navigation on a Smart System Bosch e-bike or on a Specialized Turbo e-bike since the demise of their Mission Control app? I know there are plenty of normal bike computers but they are not integrated into the e-bike system and require a 2nd head unit (try fitting one onto a Como handlebar). Plus they are far too focused on measuring fitness targets or Strava Live segments for competitive cyclists rather than e-bike trekking cyclists. Gauntlet thrown down - over to you 🚲

Hi David, a pleasure to hear from you as always. We do have some videos in the pipeline that are more focussed on hybrids and trekking bikes. Plus we will be following up with more "how to videos" for the various bike apps that are out there. Our biggest issue with all of this is time, there's just never enough of it. We will certainly do our best to bring you the content that you are after. All the best, Jason & Toby

@@ebikecentre Thanks! I was looking on both the US and AUS Trek on-line stores but still nothing there. Any word on when the new Rails will come Downunder?

What is the weight of 9.8 L size??
@ebikecentre
17 күн бұрын
I am afraid Trek haven't supplied that information yet. The previous 9.8 XT came in at around 24kg. Given that the new 800 battery is 0.5kg lighter than the 750wh, I would expect the new 9.8 to be around 23-24kg.

We have heard rumours that there will be an adaptor kit made available so that it can be retrofitted to bikes with the 3 bolt mounting point of the BDU37. However, we haven't had any confirmation of this. When we hear, we will let you know.

Full 29! Not a mullet fan. Hate that we are being pushed that way.

Mullet definitely isn’t for everyone. It’s a shame that Trek didn’t go down the same route as the new Orbea Wild which can be easily set up for either rear wheel size but, as you say, it’s the way this industry is going. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have'nt tried the Rail. But the full 29 made it attractive. But the 35 gold was'nt great. A bit disappointing it did'nt get the Zeb on the entry models.

I completely agree, the 35 Gold wasn't good enough. However, the Psylo is a massive upgrade on the 35. No, it isn't a ZEB but a massive step in the right direction. Unfortunately, ZEBS are never spec'd on the entry models (be it Trek, Orbea, Specialized etc). Thanks for the comment.

It's always a price point issue. The suits further up the chain at all the major bike brands are looking to earn the maximum from each model, even if its at the expense of the riding experience. We wish it wasn't the case but they're all businesses at the end of the day.

I have gen 4 high end trek rail and i love it. One of the traits of gen 4 carbon frame was the slick and stunning look. But honestly new one looks ugly as hell 😞

There were some cracking paint jobs on the Gen 4s. I agree the new model, is less elegant and more angular than its predecessor. However, personally I quite like it. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, so I could be mistaken. For me the best looking of the bunch is the new Powerfly FS. I knocks the socks of the previous gen. Thanks for watching and commenting. @@ebikecentre Yeah. One of the things i love with gen 4 rail is it looks like gen 5 slash which i also have. I bought this bike in lava red without seing irl and as expected it has some eye catching looks. Got like endless comments on the bike. New rail idk, i was waiting for it and thought maybe to sell mine and get the new one. But on the first looks meh to me specially that fat and saggy downtube. One of the great look traits of gen 4 rail was the aggressive frame looks. New one looks like something my grandpa would drive to his farm and turns out gen 5 motor is utter disappointment aswell. Bosch basically took gen 4 motor, made 100 gram lighter, put 50 watt extra on the powertube and amde it fatter. They talk about tuning the new one, but to me its just marketing word sallad.

Don't forget the Marlin+ too! Trek are certainly trying to plug as many eMTB niches as they can. Not all of them will be successful. For instance, the Fuel EXe, although a fantastic bike that's been exceptionally reviewed, it hasn't really translated into customer sales. I fear the Slash+ may follow down the same path too. I would be staggered if the new Rails and the Powerflys aren't massive hits.

In 2020 I bought a new Rail 9.7 Carbon and anything that touched the frame the paint would chip off. I contacted the Trek Rep and they told me I was out of luck and they wouldn't do anything for me. After spending 10,000 dollars on a bike that looked like CRAP after a month of riding I sold it and promised myself I will never buy another bike from Trek.
