It really didn't look good in person and I don't think adding oil to it would help. I did oil that area a little as it was dry and also looked like it still had fine saw dust on it. As seen in the video, that was the least of the problem and it went. I've had a new one that looks awesome for about a week now. What I would expect from Air Arms and a gun the cost a 1k.

Maybe it's just me....I just see and amazing grain on that cheek-piece! ...am I missing something? I have on in beech and a TX200 in walnut .....the walnut is very matt and needs linseed oiling or coating really....but it's a beautiful timber nevertheless.

It's hard to capture the true color of it, but it's like it wouldn't take stain and was more gray. Up on the grip is was almost white. I put a little oil on it because it looks very dry when trying to see something in it that would look good with some oil finish applied. Seriously though no matter how hard I tried all I seen was a piece of wood with a bad section running through it that looked really off from the rest of the stock. There was nothing amazing about that section of stock in person. Squinting didn't help either. At 6:10 can can see that's just not right.

Thanks for explaining the problem Sir. I have a few Air Arms rifles and had an issue with my TX200 walnut stock. The grain was very weak at the rear of the cylinder area and a piece broke with the recoil. I spoke with the shop and then directly with AA who sent me a new stock absolutely free and an amazing piece of timbre. They are very good with customer service in my experience. I now have 2 walnut stocks lol 🙏🏻🙂

Personally I absolutely love that stock. Yes it's not what you might call regular but that's what makes it jump out to me, I think it looks stunning and would absolutely pick that over any standard boring walnut stock that every rifle seems to come with these day. 👍😍

Here the thing. If you saw it in person you might change your mind. It's still of Oh, that looks cool. It's WTF happened here lol. You look at the gorgeous nice fairly dark walnut and pattern and then there's. Dang that looks like it still has a little saw dust in the checkering and why is this part gray. Someone said that it's wood that was too close to the sap line. Too me it look like the wood had been in water or something. I don't mind character, but not into walnut with an ugly streak. Inside or low light you don't notice it as much, just that it's a lighter color. Outside you see wood that is off color and didn't take stain. Had a dry white powdery look before I oiled it down. I figure if they couldn't get it to take stain, it wasn't going to get much better than that.

@charlesoutdoors2424 Yes, at the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These stocks are all made by the Italian company Minelli, who are renowned for making some of the finest in the world. They have extremely high standards which is why so many famous companies use their stocks. I think your stock will only get darker over time like all wood. When you look at Oak when it's new, it is almost white but within a few years starts to change and will eventually go black. I think your stock will age wonderfully over time and will certainly become a prized stock. Yes it's different but celebrate that, I think it looks fantastic because it's so different. I wish I had it, don't be a sheep and be bold (in the nicest way). Most Walnut is so boring these days so celebrate it when you have something so different. All my old stock are the best one with so much character where I get so disappointed these day. The finest Walnut was always obtained from France but sadly it's to expensive now and only used in high end stocks now. Keep up your great videos, from a 67 year old shooter from England in the UK. 😁👍

@charlesoutdoors2424 Never mind, I'm sure someone else will love it. I did notice you put some oil or silicone on the underlever links and on the breech slide. Keep the breech slide clean and 'dry' as oil or grease can attract dust or grit and may cause scratches when opening and closing. This part does not need to be lubed as this is outside of what needs to be lubricanted and best kept dry. Whenever I strip mine down, that's one part you definitely don't want to lube. These rifles are so easy to strip and maintain yourself (unlike many others). This rifle can be completely stripped (apart from the trigger mechanism) and put back together in under ten minutes with just a hex key and a screwdriver. Of just my five springers, this is one of the sweetest to shoot and as you said yourself, no 'twang' from the off unlike every out of the box Weihrauch I've ever tried. Hope you enjoy your replacement one. 😁👍

It looks like they used water damaged timber to make the stock, it looks grey. And the burr damage to the tube is unforgivably bad. AA are usually a lot better than that but I guess everyone makes a "Friday afternoon special" every once in a while.

@@davidpaylor5666 I'll be honest though Customer Service at Air Gun Depot and Pyramid Air isn't what it use to be. There was a time they would send you out a new gun and make sure it's right before they shipped it. Instead Customer service was like whatever, Go through the website. It will email you a label to send it back, when we get the gun we'll send you another. That would take about 2 weeks to get a replacement and they still wouldn't check it. I told the guy forget that. I'll send this one in for a refund and just order another. That meant do it through the website and no, they won't insure the next one is right. I guess for 10.00 more you could have the 10 for 10 where the shoot it 10 times, but odds are they would have still sent the first one out. Luckily most of mine dealings are with AOA. Hi Charles. You are definitely entitled to a new one. The gun is not fit for purpose. I expect the stock coloration is getting near the sap line. The timber should be completely de-sapped before use on a gun of this price point. When you think of it most cheap guns have pretty good stocks.

@@3421958 Did it look like I was worried about accuracy with the issue I had going on? Did I even say I had a problem with accuracy? Unless I drop my gun on the scope I have no issue with turning my gun over on the scope or it affecting accuracy. Now I won't get rough and put to much pressure on the scope if i roll the gun over on it. Putting pressure on either end could damage the scope. Would take a lot of pressure down on the scope between the mounts to affect it, but I still wouldn't recommend it. After doing it for over 15 years without issue, personally, I did find it funny.

Seems like you can get a bad one whether it's 100.00 or 1000.00. The stock just had some sapwood that is normally avoided when they cut the blanks, but maybe some people think's it looks unique and like it. The real issue was something wrong between the compression tube and receiver cutting groves in the compression tube where there should be no metal to metal contact. Got the new one now and kept an eye on it as I opened and closed the cocking lever. No sign of this one having an issue.

If you think about both AA and HW are pretty expensive. Especially when you add in a Walnut stock. Just a good tune kit is closer to 100.00 now. By the time you put just a tuning kit in the HW97K your in the TX200 price range. AA has a bit better fit and finish than HW these days. A little more elegant is probably the right word. HW is now laser etching their name and everything on their guns. It's not really bad. AA looks more like theirs is nicely engraved - Elegant 😆. You can disassemble an Air Arms with just a few simple tools. No spring compressor required, not that I would need to on the Pro Sport, but I may put a little molly paste on the piston some day.

A bit over priced, but the new one I received looks and shoots awesome. The draw to the Pro Sport is the looks with it's hidden underlever giving it a clean look like a tradition rifle. No lever or tank hanging out under the barrel. As far as accuracy I can't say it's more accurate the my HW97k. Some days I shoot one better than the other. The Pro Sport isn't for everyone as it's harder to cock and costs a bit more.
