Facebook market place is all I use now haha. Craigslist is mostly bs, plus you can just click on their profile and see what kind of people they are. Was about about to pull the trigger on a truck, clicked on their profile and It was a kid who had a picture of it buried in a mud hole, hauling ass over rocks, etc.

There's probably a lot more money to be made in parting it out. Although that one seems to have been fairly well maintained it looks like it has been used pretty hard, the interior was pretty rough for a 100,000 mile vehicle, and that's pretty low mileage for an 11-year old truck. If it was a nicer one all round then it probably would be worth saving, but that one is definitely better for parts, especially with most of it being pre-sold...

Sounded like the idle issue was the AC compressor cycling on and off, loading the engine down.

The auction did not scrap it, it came from copart and they won it at the auction. When they received it they scraped it. Maybe it had a destruction title? I doubt it.

@@robglez I think insurance got involved saw the damage and cost of repair exceeded the value of the truck and paid the owner total value of said truck. then took possession of the truck where it then went to auction and now jay there has it now it has a far greater value in parts then repairing it.

That doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort to straighten out the frame and fix it. Even if you did fix the frame it would never really be straight again. It would be permanently tweaked to some extent. I think parting it out is the better option.

This truck has nice specs. 6.0 but basic otherwise. Could have ran forever. My dad has a 2007 6.0 LTZ and it's at 180,000 miles on the original transmission. I never noticed the rattle but I'll pay attention next time

@s reilly Actually I do GM has the 2nd highest vehicle recall numbers in the world right behind Honda. It has more recalls than many of the leading car companies combined. Not to mention how ugly all the new Chevy trucks are but that's just an opinion

I own a car dealership and body shop. Can’t see that having been a hard fix. Straighten the bed, straighten the axle(hopefully) and that truck is $$6-7000 all day. Prob way more than he’s getting in parts money.

*you know how to stop that start up rattle? Use Mobil 1 engine oil and add Lucas engine treatment. if i needed a work truck i'd be on my way there with the cummins and my trailer. there's nothing at all wrong with the 6.0 Litres i have 3 of them in my 3 Cadillac Escalades. they are work horses*

My dad had a 2010 Silverado LT 1500 and he got 130,000 miles on it when he traded it off for a 2018 Silverado LT that he got in December 2018 and he almost has 10,000 miles

Yup 6.0 and trans swap in a 70's square body... You just pumped all the trans fluid out of it with no driveshaft in it...

Joe Schlotthauer Depends if the driveshaft came off of the reae diff or the tranny. Even then if it came off the tranny would only lose the fluid if the yoke came out too. Something tells me the driveshaft came out of the diff as it was hit in the rear.

Does the 6.0 V8 have AFM(you know where it shuts off cylinders)?? All the 1/2 ton Chevy trucks in my price range had the 5.3 V8 with that lousy system, ended up buying a Tundra instead. Had that system go bad on a 2013ish GMC Denali hybrid I was driving for work(black car service), sounded like something let loose in the motor. Needed a new cam, cylinder head, lifters, whole 3 pages of crap done to it(kept the same long block). It was under warranty, $8,000 worth of free work!!

My 2011 1500 Silverado was wrecked like that and the axle slide the same way and I just replaced shackles and bolts and slid the axles back around. But I’ve noticed it sits lower on the drivers side... Anybody got ideas of what they could be? Bad leaf springs?

Well 03 and 08 are separate generations. The 07 08 models started the cheaper parts and electronics. The engine's though are great either way

I crashed a 08 chey 3500 on tuesday in the exact same way that is. Broke the u-bolts on the axle and pulled the drive shaft apart in the same manor. Kind of weird timing

My dad has a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500HD, with nearly 200k miles, runs smooth. Its got 4 wheel drive, extended cab, truck bed cap, and everything else that makes for a perfect work truck! He drives that thing a lot, (he has to for the work he does)

Worth more in parts. He's there to make money, not loose. Probably sold the drive train for $1500. Front end parts are probably worth $1000 if not more. Trying to retitle a wrecked truck isn't worth it because people will want the truck for $1000.

Mines a 2005 2500 6.0 and it does that same rattle you mentioned on a cold start. Once warmed up it goes away, just common on these vortec motors
