These 2008 Saturn Aura XR's are one of my favourite sedans in the used market, because they have the 3.6 L V6 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission. Anyway, these vehicles are getting really old (aging pretty bad) and they are not fuel-efficient, I guess.

I just picked up little a sister an 07 Saturn Aura XR 3.6V6 it's her first car. The current owner has done some engine work. He purchased it not running. He completed the head gaskets, timing chain, guides, and valves. Apparently when he purchased it the guides has failed whiched caused internal engine damage. He's a Toyota Tech and I purchased it for $1k and he's changing the water pump for me this weekend for $250 and he'll replace the batter and coolant for me as well. Otherwise, it's a great running car, no leaks, he's changed the transmission fluid at one point, did a tune up etc. The vehicle sits with 129k on the clock. There's still some life left in it.

I have one, don’t want to let it go 😢 the computer seems to be going out on me. Can’t find a mechanic to diagnose the actual problem.

Joe, did the missing gas gauge remind you of your Saab? I remember having one of these as an Uber in Detroit some years ago and thinking it was pretty decent for a 2000s GM product. Those 3.6s can be funky though. I think they stretch timing chains. And I remember your debacle with the Acadia transmission wave plate!

I fucking love this thing I have 08 aura XR same interior 136,000 miles But one thing I’ve noticed when letting off the gas my rpm’s jump up then the car accelerates forward a bit then slows down I’m praying it’s not the transmission it doesn’t feel like it is but I’m not an expert does anyone have a idea Also in between 1-2200 rpm’s it seems to hum but when I pressed the gas more the engine stops humming and I feel the power

I'm fairly sure these were sold as the Vauxhall/Opel Vectra in some markets.

Just bought an 07 Aura XE for $5900. Been doing great so far, no issues. Got all the fluids topped off. One problem is there is a knocking sound when I am turning but I am sure it is just a wheel bearing or part of the steering shaft. About a $400 fix likely. Other than that, I love it so far

@@JoesGoldenGarage yea, ive had it for over 6 years, daily driver, the plan was clean it up and restore it to original spec, but then you have a family and they need you, soon i want to get my dealer license like you. But at the moment I cant keep it. I can send you some pictures later. No damage to the body which is why i wanted to restore it, and very little rust on the body.

I had a 2008XR. Worse car I’ve ever owned. Bad speedo. Bad tired. Battery. Sunroof. Transmission. And much more. I had 16 issues within the 1st year of ownership. Was lucky to get 14mpg in the city. BUT…damn this thing was quick. I surprised a lot of people in this thing.
