On my second pair of triumph 20’s ran Chicago marathon in my first a year ago. So after hundreds of miles in both I’ve only ever thought of them as a perfect blend of comfort bounce durability and importantly stability which I’ve had no problem with at any pace. Thanks for you informative video. 👍

I'm a huge fan of both NB & Saucony. These are two of the four Boston shoe companies that get me to the Boston Marathon each year (Reebok & Topo are the other two). What sways me more towards the 1080 over the Triumph is the heel drop of the Triumph (10 mm). That's just way too high for me. The 6 mm heel drop of the 1080 is still a bit high but preferable. Otherwise, the shoes are relatively similar. Thanks for a comprehensive review.

Would love to see a comparison of the 1080v13 and the Gel-Nimbus 25! Had the 1080v10’s a couple of years ago but am currently running in the Nimbus 25’s.

Notice ‘Road And Trail’ have an early review of the Saucony Ride 17. They have widened the base of the shoe and expect they will do the same for the Triumph 22.

I appreciate the durometer and width measurements of the base. EDDBUD often does this and it provides useful information. Of course, it doesn't always tell the whole story because most reviewers have described the ride of the 1080v13 as super soft. I'm really wary of the 10mm drop but, fortunately, RoadTrailRun just posted a review of the Ride 17 and it looks brilliant. It seems almost like a more stable, daily trainer version of the Endorphin Speed. For those hesitating about the Triumph due to stability or the drop, that might be a good option. That PWRRUN+ foam and decent outsole coverage should give it great durability, which I have my doubts about with the 1080v13.

watched the roadtrailrun review and it looks like a solid shoe. i really hope they have another colorway at launch because that navy gray one they have in the video is not my favorite

@yowana I recently bought a pair of 1080s, and love them. But on my left foot, I started getting a blister on the inside of my foot on my arch, right behind my big toe joint. I'm only getting them on my left foot, could it be that I'm lacing up my left foot too tight? Or are the shoes probably just not a good fit for my foot?

Appreciated the fit emphasis around 9:13. Much depends on who you are. When I shop at the local discounter of outgoing models, I can't even comprehend how people can run in some of the current narrow-soled ice skates. Like he says, I will look forward to the new Saucony Guide 17, NewBalance generous fits, or Asics Kayano 30. My feet leave no choice about it.

If stability is an issue the Saucony Tempus is similar to the Triumph and a better comparison to the 1080. Not as much cushion as the 1080, though still very comfortable, and more versatile.

I love the Saucony Triumph 20 for running, but like you said, hate it for walking. Too unstable. 1080 v13 must be much better for that, standing all day long, etc.

Hey would it be possible to compare to the Gel nimbus 25? I live the GN25 but sometimes feel it is a bit too soft and maybe the 1080 will give another sort of feel under foot. Thanks!
@supwell

Yes definitely! Will have that video coming in the next week or so. Initial thoughts are that the 1080 is a bit firmer/less squishy than the Nimbus in a good way

What do you feel is a better marathon shoe, Triumph or Shift?
@supwell
11 ай бұрын
the softer and bouncier cushion of the triumph will likely feel better for you over longer distances. i took my triumphs for many two hour long runs (16+ miles) but didn't love taking the shift for anything more than 10 miles

would you say that endorphin shift 3s would be a good daily trainer compared to NB v13 since the shift 3s are on the bit firmer side and also on a discounted price or would it be better to suck it up and spend the extra $50 bucks?
@supwell
11 ай бұрын
hat daily trainer are you currently running in/enjoying? It really depends here if you prefer a softer or firmer shoe since the rides are so different. The Shift 3 is much firmer so if you like that then I would def go Shift, otherwise if you prefer softer/more relaxed feel then the 1080

Definitely the New Balance 1080. It has a wider base that feels more planted and comfortable for walking. The Triumph is a bit narrow and can feel wobbly when walking

I decided not to buy the 21 since it's the same midsole and outsole as the 20 - the only difference is a slight change to the upper. I did talk about the slight differences between the 20 and 21 in the fit section of this video (21 fixed some of the heel lockdown issues). The ride of the 20 and 21 are nearly the same tho
