If Vongo is for stability and 860 is also for stability, what is the substantial difference really?

Vongo is neutral stability and the 860 is got more durable stability on the medial side to give better durability for pronation.

@@PLANETWATERMELON The 860 V14 has lost a lot of the support on the medial side compared to the last 13 versions of it.

@@ck346 Not in my findings. The wider platform and the plastic frame running throughout the shoe has shown to be very solid.

@@PLANETWATERMELON glad they work for you. I’ve used them for the past 13 versions with no issues. This new version does not work at all for me or lots of people I run with. They just have lost a lot of support and the softness makes them no where near as stable. A friend of my is a podiatrist and she no longer recommends the 860 anymore.

Is there a forefoot rocker in this shoe? How flexible is it?

Super disappointed they lowered the drop. Some of us need higher drop shoes. I like that the stability plate extends into the forefoot, but they should’ve kept some lateral support for those that land there.

No need to worry. The 860 has an 8mm drop, the Congo has the 6mm drop. 8mm isn't too bad and you can add an insole or thin heel pad under the insole of the shoe. 🍉

This shoe is no longer a stability shoe. It has no arch support anymore like the past 13 generations have had. Sad New Balance destroyed this shoe. Same thing with the 1260/Earlier Vongos.

Sorry, but the arch has zero to do with the stability of a shoe. The arch is support and really fit. If you want a more fitted arch support then add an insole that will give much better support in the arch and will be consistent from shoe to shoe. 🍉

@@PLANETWATERMELON If you have no arch support and it's soft under the arch, then you have a shoe that used to be stable that is no longer stable for some people. Shoes have different type of stability mechanisms. New Balance screwed up the 860V14 so bad the 880 is now firmer and feels more stable which is supposed to be a neutral shoe.

@@ck346 Again not for my experience especially compared to the 880. Not even close in my testings with runners and walkers. Based on my analysis the torsional control of the 860 is profoundly much more resistant to torque created by the clients body weight and collapsing joints of their feet and ankle. Note that shoes like 860 and other stability models have proven little to no difference to preventing injuries. The stability features simply provide durability compared to none stability featured shoe models (in most cases) and not prevention of injuries until the comparable models had several hundreds of miles in which the stability featured models had stayed better shape and not torqued inward. Hope that clarified my point.
