Same colour as mine. I think that colour scheme makes them look like a vintage bass. Really cool. I dyed my fingerboard black to match the headstock and scratchplate. I have fat, black nylon strings on it too. I had to swap the nut for one with wider (filed out) slots. I kept the original in case I revert back to normal strings. It plays, looks and sounds great. I've gigged with mine quite a few times and it hasn't let me down yet.

I own a Mustang and have tried this Ibanez. The Mustang is a bit better quality but is overpriced and overhyped. It has it's issues like a crap quality switch and rough fretboard edges. I think the Ibanez will probably have issues down the track as I would expect at this price point but I plan on upgrading the parts to make it a great bass. Just try both and see which is more comfortable to play.

Great spontaneous review esp as you were hungry..! When you get time, can you compare it to the mid-scale ibanez srmd200 you reviewed? Wld love yr thoughts between the two re a) your expert view and b) for a female friend starting out age 50. She's 5"7, so tall for a woman and has long fingers, but small hands & shoulders. She tried my SR500 34" and loved the slim neck, but it weighed on her shoulders a bit. She thought she should go for something smaller as she's starting quite late and prob wont end up rocking a 34" on stage, or notice too much re the difference in tone & fundamental. Would love your thoughts the 2 re size, quality and options as a first bass. Thanks and stay safe!

Absolutely. If you use long scale or even medium, you'll end up with excessive winds around the post (not good for tuning). If you cut them beyond the red nylon (to shorten them) the string unravels. If your bass is short scale then get short scale strings.

This would be a great bass for you it's "short scale" but that has more to do with the string tension and a shorter neck so it's easier to reach the lower notes or to make chords. I am primarily a guitar player but I just ordered this it should be here in a couple days.

I started off with one of these TMB30 basses after years of guitar. It's great but the neck was too chunky for me. I swapped to a Squier short scale jaguar instead, neck is noticeably slimmer. Squier bronco is slimmer also. Just personal preference.

Hi Zou! Thanks for watching! Well, the TMB100 is pretty much the same bass, but it’s got the standard 34” scale length and it comes with active electronics (bass/treble). Personally, i prefer passive basses. The neck profiles of both should be the same, but the TMB100 will most likely neck dive more than the TMB30. The important question that you have to ask yourself is if you want a short scale or a long scale bass.

@@IvanBassist thanks Ivan for thr replie! Actually, I'm thinking more of ordering the TMB100. I heard that it usually neck dives, probably due to it's heavy neck and no balance. Some of my young students have the GSRM20. Both basses are great for the price. The main difference would be the body and neck shape. The GSRM balances a little better and has a very thin neck (like most ibanez SR basses). The TMB has a bit of a chunkier neck, but to me it feels more comfortable. Very thin necks make me use more force than what i actually need, i’ve noticed

IvanBassist if you do change the pickups, then the best one’s to are probably the EMG GZR Geezer Butler P/J set ! Even though they cost about the same price as the Bass itself , they are very well worth it and turn this from a pretty good Guitar ...into a very GOOD BASS GUITAR ! And they also come with all accessories needed, including the new upgraded matching Pots , input jack and wiring ( even though they are solderless drop-in pups ) . Plus...if you add in a new Gotoh bridge and tuners ( Hipshot are great too but cost twice as much as them, but both are equal in quality anyway) And if you also put a new set of quality strings as well......Well then you’ll have a different guitar ...that looks , feels , plays and sounds like that it is something much more expensive than it really is ! ( like at least it’s a $1000+ or more Bass) Thanks for your video...I hope you still enjoy yours , wether or not you decide to mod it with some upgrades....it’s still a very good and enjoyable instrument! ! 😁👍🤘
