This MIGHT help. Some bikes do have problems cranking. If you look into on the internet/KZitem there is something called easy start upgrade kit. These basically are high end thicker copper cables that run from the battery and spark plugs allowing an easier current flow. The kit replaces the old cables. Haven't heard of any negatives, and although it is a simple exchange of cables the "FAFF" factor of feeding the cables amongst other cables can be a deterrent.

Just changed my battery for the 1st time on my 2017 . Never missed a beat . But as I'm traveling to Europe on it , I changed it just in case . The main reason it lasted so long I think , is that it's always on a Ducati optimiser

Gday Stace, 5 years out of a battery isn’t bad nowadays, they certainly don’t last like they used to mate, thanks for sharing, cheers

Even our car batteries don't get much more life than that. And battery power is the direction all vehicles are going now, so that will be interesting...

You must have looked after that battery well! Did you keep a trickle charger on it? I never do, we can ride all year round here.

@@staceonwheels I could ride it even during winter when it was + couple degrees for couple days, at least once a moneth I drove for more than 30 minutes.

Hi. I would also fit a battery maintenance charger ,C-tek or Red arc. Just a thought

I certainly do when I'm not riding it regularly but generally it gets a good long ride at least once a week. Maybe I'm lazy but not keen to keep it hooked up all the time.

I bought a 2017 939 Supersport this last April. it was like new with 2159 km on it. and the battery and tires were changed in 2021. but no one told me about making sure I didn't lock my steering by turning the key all the way to the left which says P. and it leaves a couple of lights on. and even though I noticed it did that the first time I parked my bike. I forgot on the 2nd time. and then I didn't ride the bike for two weeks. and I came out to a dead battery. and then I looked under my seat to see the battery, and it wan't there. I was like wtf. and then I found out it was under the fairing on the bottom of the bike. and I found out about a little connecter under the seat for trickle charging the battery, so I bought a charger online to try to charge it from under the seat. but after a full day of having it connected. the bike wouldn't start. I think because it was drained for to many days the battery just wouldn't take a charge. but part of me wasn't sure if it was because I turned the key all the way to the left. because when I went to start it I didn't look at the key position before turning the key on. so part of me was hoping there wasn't a bigger problem. and when I changed the battery I decided to go with a no name brand. because it was a third the price. because I figured if there is some problem that drained the battery other then the key turned all the way to the left. then I didn't want to waist an expensive battery. my only concern now is how long it's going to last. the only good thing about my battery going dead. is I had bought a gps unit that connects to the battery. called Sizzapp, so I was able to connect it at the same time. and I found the perfect place to stash the gps unit away from the engine heat. but not seen by anyone. now I can look on my phone app and see the battery level everyday. in case I stupidly turn the key all the way to the left again. and I can also see if my bike is in the condo parking garage where I left it. so it gives me piece of mind. but the gps puts a small drain on the battery. I noticed if I ride the bike for a couple of hours. when I come back home and look at my app. it says the battery is 13.5 volts. and usually within an hour or so it will say 13.4 volts. and one time I didn't ride the bike for 12 days and it went down to 12.9 volts. so it drains around 0.1 every two days. and I am wondering how much it would go down in 12 days without the gps on it. one day I will have to disconnect the gps and let it sit for 12 days to find out. anyway I really don't get why Ducati put the p key position all the way to the left. I heard it is a feature that is meant to be used if the bike is stuck on the highway at night. you can turn the key to P. and it will have a couple lights on so people can see the bike. but it should've been by turning the key to the right. not by turning the key all the way to the left. like everyone does to lock there steering on every other motorcycle. but I still love my 939. and I'm hoping my battery will last five years. so far no problem so I must've turned the key all the way to the left the second time I parked it.

Well that was a saga! Hope the new battery lasts but at least you know to keep an eye on it. Or get a trickle charger.

I am having exactly the same problem. I charged it and it the green light of the charger is telling me the battery is fully charged but, after trying to restart the bike, it does not. My idea is that the battery is old. My battery is 4 years old. Did you had to do anything to the electronics of the bike? Thank very much.

Soynds like a bad battery. If you take the fairing off, you might notice a bit of distortion of the battery casing like I did. Replacing the battery didn't require any change to electronics... just a quick in and out job!

Just at a local battery supplier. Nowhere special. I just searched for the brand I wanted.
