I worked at McDonnell Douglas Long Beach Plant back in the late 80's early 90's on the real versions of this aircraft in Static and Durability testing of the T-1 and P -1 airframes.. It's pretty cool to see it take off and land in RC form... I was one of hundreds on the flightline the morning of it's first flight..The funny part is that you could see through parts of the actual aircraft as it flew around the LB airport...lol. Not too far fetched from this flight at all... all this guy needs is two p-38 chase planes to make it look like it did to us that morning. Pretty awesome Video and Aircraft...GOOD JOB !!

Because it would work, huh? Luckily I have put that kind of thing behind me or else I am probably just the kind that would give her a try ...at LEAST the proverbial "dry run" to see if anyone is effectively countering such... I wonder if some publication would pay for the effort just for how interesting a story it would make? If it really COULD easily be done, then it becomes a legitimate question for the reading public "look at how easy this was! Why should we at all think it is not NOW happening all the time virtually unchecked??? This is an interesting proposition! I'd watch a bunch of commercials to see that episode on some program...i don't know "60 minutes" ?? any of em! Heck I EVEN watched the episode about the catapult question on Mythbusters and that was WAY on the NOT! side of "interesting" or feasible!

***** I take it that is a prison yard of some kind? One would think the prisons would jam frequencies used on store bought RC products ...which might not stop all of it, but would limit it at least to the super determined tech savvy! Hey for that matter some ingenius tech savvy builder could make a ground roving RC vehicle that could climb fences! Chain link fences might be designed with rare earth magnets and spike on tires ( or track?) so they could climb straight up the fence, small enough to pass under stretched barbed wire and then straight down the other side...at night? Drop a camoflauged package ...maybe flat dirt colored with phoney grass? and then return the way it came! LOL I am not a criminal and do not support these activities, I simply love trying to figure out how to beat the challenge of systems designed to stop a thing ....it's the challenge of it is all! For that matter an RC vehicle could simply have a launch system so that when the vehicle is manuevered close enough, it could launch a package up and over (or through an open link fence?) a tall barrier using anything from spring power to CO2 or even "potato" launcher using flamable gas and igniter explosion at tube base to send a package up over and into a yard! Maybe a ball? or a rock that is not a rock? Or a fake dead bird or trash or whatever! Even a dirt clump with "weeds" or turf tail to stabilize the trajectory with it landing heavy part down and weed tail pointing upwards? Be great if a script writer wrote something like this into a movie if they have not already lol! Hey while this is being picked up have a decoy RC flight overhead putting on a show for the guards who's full attention would be on THAT and even trying to bring it down shooting at it etc! While everyone in the whole place is watching that, the real insertion, boring in comparison, goes off without a hitch! I like that!!

Bruce M. Did not claim it was the largest airplane in the world but the biggest R C airplane. Read the title.

I know nothing about RC planes. My question is, what does this thing run on? What's the fuel?

batteries, if it was fuel there would have been holes above the wings were the fuel would normally go on a much larger air craft, you would see them refilling it.

The engines are jet turbines. It runs on jet fuel, aka kerosine. It vents from the engines.

There is no mistaking that sound, is there? I thought that was the most exceedingly cool part of it, 4 little mini turbines, screaming to be melted. I mean, I doubt he's got a bulletproof governor on those little things, right? An RC that requires serious maintenance, or people could get hurt. That is pretty cool.

I see this as an effective way for future aircrafts to build a better design to further it's integrity against the extensive weather damage that can occur during flight without the risk and loss of human life.
