I was changing my head gaskets then I realized, I mine as well change my lifters too, couple more bolts and your lifters are right there 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

I had to do that once on the side of the road in So. Boston for my Camaro when the timing chain broke. Sure is a lot easier when the engine is out of the car!

NEED HELP NOW!!! i have a 2011 5.7 Charger State Trooper police package. We have the engine on the stand doing a cam and lifter swap..Question: are these cams different than the R/T cams? I heard the factory used the 392 cams when new! is this true? if not what cam do i use? The pursuit cars feel stronger than the R/T's what cam did they use? need to order it in the next few days! thanks for any replies

Did you're lifters have a small hole just below the roller? Another question do the non MDS lifters have a hole in every lifter, small hole just below the roller? Stock Had the 2 lifters with a hole on the sleeve part and 2 without on each rack, new ones all have very small holes just below the roller.

OSnap Bro, at 10:10 I can see a shot of the old lifters that have a hole for the MDS system and the new ones do not. Gonna say you put the wrong non MDS lifters in that MDS equipped engine. And yes I would say no head gaskets, new gaskets are shiny not rust colored. I can hear the head clank. Sad. My 5.7 died because the head gasket was installed backwards blocking half the water ports and the valve guide seal on #6 fell out. Catastrophic failure because of stupid.

When reinstalling cylinder heads and fastening bolts. Isnt there a pattern to follow. ?? Does it matter??

Jorge Damian I've always followed a pattern. Really, if you go from middle outward (both ways) you should be fine. Some bolts are TTY, and must be replaced due to being stretched (2010 ish v6 camaro).--just as a reference. It's always best to replace though.

imagine thinking you need to replace head bolts every time yikes. coming from a Chrysler tech that works on hemi's all day head bolts are not required for replacement unless stretched

And this ladies and gentlemen is why I would NEVER buy a "reconditioned" engine, unless you know who did the work and where it came from. This thing is going to launch itself. I'm part way through the video, is he even using a torque wrench? Done here, I've seen enough.

I have a click torque wrench and its the cheapo one, i hate it, i wanna get a digital one. Ive broke a few bolts cause the frigging thing didnt click for me. I have a 06 300c awd im gonna do put new heads on to hopefully correct valveseat failure worries. Prob gonna put a new cam and lifters in. I thought about going for more power or mds delete. But i have a tuner with mds off. So from a reliability stand point im gonna just go back with what it has. First need a torque wrench i trust.

@@jonnyboy3674 Once you put the heads back on, you are supposed to use a push rod measuring tool and measure the actual needed pushrod length, THEN order up your pushrods. They sell them in .025 increments. - Why? you ask, because of wear, and different manufacturers thicknesses of head gaskets, etc. I forsee a bent pushrod on this motor as it is driven about 1.5 miles away from whatever shop this is.

If the valve lifters are MDS must be a hole on the side of the valve lifter, and cyl 1, 7, 4, 6 are those MDS not all.

If i will delete my mds lifters 1,4,6,7 to non mds lifter do i need to change my mds camshaft to non mds camshaft? Or i can still use the stock cam that mds camshaft? Thanks.

@@Senski11 I'm no expert but I'm doing this hemi cam/lifter job right now too, and from what I've read if you're looking to do an MDS delete then you'll need a different non-MDS camshaft... the stock MDS camshaft has a different lobe profile because of the way the mds lifters work.

You use assembly lube on a new cam, not engine oil. You can use oil on the lifters.

Not on these..roller lifters, not solid tappet. Solid tappet cam, YES..these are rollers. Not needed.
