Great layout.What has impressed me is that a actual layout that actually has catenary wires! Brilliant

Many thanks Mickey for the message and compliments! I do like the catenary wires as well … they are mostly the Peco type then cut and bent to size … and spray painted in Railmatch sleeper grime brown to tone down 👍

Is it just Cavalex who do the TEAs? I though another manufacturer did TEAs ( BOC ones). Great video of a super layout.

I think Bachmann have also produced TEA wagons of a slightly different design and liveries … while I believe that Heljan produced the BOC wagons … I was tempted as I’ve seen on KZitem some of the BOC trains passing through Warrington BQ etc 👍

Love the TEA wagons. I used to live near Fawley refinery and they were a regular sight on the line going past my old school. May have contributed to my lower grades and a love of freight traffic! ( The line also served Marchwood military port so lots of tanks etc in the early 80's). Point of interest. When the TEA trains were hauling they usually consisted of a rake of 16 cars. Don't know if your layout could take that many?
@ModelRailway

Many thanks for the message Mark … sounds like you have some good memories of seeing those freight trains! Glad you also like the TEA wagons … I’m very impressed with them and glad I purchased. I could squeeze another wagon or two and still fit within Yard 1 … Yard 2 below the layout has some longer sidings … however would require a loco to haul up the incline and with couplings to be reliable especially around the curves. I’ve performed a few tests with this rake of 10 around the layout and so far so good … so I’ll probably stick with this rake of 10 for now … 👍

Hi Mark, You must be talking about none other than Hythe County Primary school! Apart from the school playing field being right next to the Fawley branch, the old prefab classrooms used to vibrate everytime an oil train went past and you frequently had to wait at the School Road level crossing to get to and from school. Happy memories, particularly of Cromptons on 4 wheeled tank wagons in the 1970s!

Hi John. Close, but no banana! Actually, I'm an ex Hounsdown alumni. Class of '84. Fantastic view from the top floor of all the trains running past.

Just bought a DCR class 56, but the fans don’t spin, any ideas?
@ModelRailway
2 жыл бұрын
I guess it’s a Hornby Class 56? I believe the fan is connected to the motor via a rubber band …. but maybe that release was not fitted with a band? I read somewhere that by having the band fitted can sometimes affect the performance of the loco … hope that helps 👍
@markwilson4052

Who else do you have wagons by on the layout?
@ModelRailway
2 жыл бұрын
I have quite a mix … so the Container KFA are Hornby, as is the MGR coal train, the steel coil train are from Cavalex (BBA) and Bachmann (BAA), the engineers are mostly Hornby but with two Dapol Turbot’s, the Lime Hopper wagons are Accurascale, the Cargowaggon is mostly Heljan but with two from Kernow, while the Speedlink is a mix of Hornby, Dapol and Bachmann. Hope this helps 👍
