@@rachelhoward7889 I didnt think Pamys' comment came off rude at all nor "nitpicky". I totally get where youre coming from though but I think theyre just offering feedback. I dont think it was neccesary to "go off" on them for a mature comment. The comment even mentions it was still an enlightening video. Just because someome says they dont like something doesnt mean theyre displaying hatred. In any line of work feedback is neccessary and its necessary for the provider to accept feedback in order to reflect what works for their audience's experience. I hate when they put Niacinamide in everything, as my very sensitive skin reacts very badly to it. Either due to sensitivity or some kind of allergy. All I know is that if I use products with Niacinamide, and especially AHA; Glycolic acid, hello contact dermatitis, red inflamed skin, red bumps and hives😏😔
@db-gb5xi

Dr Alexis Stephens says that it may not be the niacinamide that's the problem. She says if a product also has citric acid in it, that's more likely the culprit. Dr Dray does have a video with products that don't contain niacinamide.

A little skincare tip when using foaming cleanser, use a small amount, apply some water to it and work it up into a foam before washing the face with the foam. Many people have a bad habit of over using their skin cleanser and applying the paste directly onto the face and rubbing it until it foam. You will increase your chance of getting outbreaks if your cleansing method is incorrect. Lastly wash off your cleanser throughly so as not to leave residue behind and if possible choose a cleanser that is sls free.
@bredee424
2 жыл бұрын
Hello, This is incorrect. Applying the cleanser without foaming it up is completly fine and in many cases it is reccomended. Something to have in mind is if the cleanser is to be foamed or if it is foaming. A gel can often be applied directly to skin. -Derm

I strongly suggest The Ordinary's Salicylic Anhydrous Solution for dry skin with acne. But make sure you get -ANHYDROUS- not the regular one, the regular one is very drying. Maybe make sure to apply a hyaluronic acid cream to a damp face, straight after cleansing (to hold in hydration). When it's absorbed, then apply your oil free moisturiser. I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream as my hyaluronic acid cream. I have only skin and I'm OK using the one for dry skin. Dr. Dray, I am curious about your take on this: hyaluronic acid has become such a popular ingredient in skin care and makeup these days, its even been introduced into products i've been using and loving for years, but i just moved to a dry climate (arizona) and now i don't know if those products are still going to work for my skin. I would love to hear your take on if hyaluronic acid can be at all effective in a dry climate (like, will it work if i use it under something occlusive like oil or sunscreen? is it okay if it's in my body lotion? even if i apply hyaluronic acid-containing products onto damp skin, will it still lose its effectiveness once my skin becomes dry again?) or if it's an ingredient i should try and avoid all together? Thank you, if you read this and thank you if you respond!
@honeysnout
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Emma, I'm not Dr. Dray, but from my understanding, hyaluronic acid works well in a dry climate. If it's an ingredient in a lotion you use, it should work on its own or underneath an occlusive (even better actually). Applying products with hyaluronic acid on damp skin is even more moisturizing than on dry skin. In fact, if you use a hyaluronic acid serum in which the main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, you should definitely use it on damp skin, or else it can backfire and draw moisture out of your skin especially in a dry climate. For extra moisturizing, you can layer moisturizing products. A good order is humectant (hyaluronic acid), emollient (lotions/creams), finishing with an occlusive (lanolin, petroleum jelly). But however you moisturize, hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient in almost any form, and a great way to keep moisture in your skin in a place like Arizona. Hope this helps!

When I was 12 my T-zone was so oily because of the sudden hormone changes. All of them were cystic and really painful. Alternating between BHA and benzoyl peroxide helped a lot, but I never saw a difference until I started using a moisturizer. Really helped lessen the overproduction of oils. I wish you luck! You're a much better mom about this than most, since many don't care to help with things like skincare. We appreciate you. ❤

The Banana Boat Mineral enhanced face spf lotion. It's a combination mineral chemical sunscreen with octinoxate and octisalate with Zinc. That has aluminum starch and bentonite clay. If you already like the cerave AM the Cetaphil Oil control spf 30 has good ingredients like licorice root and various starches to mop up oils. A higher factor spf 50 by cetaphil is the mineral day lotion with combined filters. In my experience it's moisturizing enough (as labeled a moisturizer with sunscreen) dries down matte enough for makeup and just cutting down the shine with reaplication. Both of those products are about $14. Roughly the same as the cerave one you already like. In my experience, something that has starches and a bit of bentonite clay really cuts down on oiliness with reaplication and helping to moisturize and wick away sweat from active acne lesions. Unfortunately, although I love the Cerave AM moisturizer, it doesn't have those wicking ingredients, nor do they sell a higher factor lightweight sunscreen like cetaphil. I've tried the reformulated cerave spf 50 mineral tinted sunscreen and it's still too casty.

I’m not very much used to the changing camera angles. It’s quite interrupting and preferred the earlier edits whereas it’s not flashy. No need for extra shots, Dr.Dray. Only you speaking is already excellent.

Being allergic to propylene glycol, I appreciate when a company like cerave comes out with a “redundant” acne cleanser. Paulas choice seems to be addicted to putting PG in their products, and cerave is one brand I can count on that I won’t find any.

Ironically, when I was first diagnosed with severe eczema at age 26, pg was in the steroid cream I was prescribed, triamcinalone (sp?). That sent me on quite a journey (2 years) to figure out why my itching couldn’t be quelled by steroid creams, and only kept getting worse.

Why am I looking at the side of your head when you are talking to me? It's like, "Are you talking to me? Oh you're talking to someone else- should I leave so you two can talk?"
