This shows the value of having an independent backsplash. It needs to bow and flex with the wall line to later be sealed with silicone.

Almost none of the videos on shelves and countertops take into account that the corners are not true 90 degrees. There is ALWAYS a bump out in the corner due to drywall joint compound. And walls often are not true anymore. Old construction has warped or settled and new construction is crap. I always make a template. Takes longer but my gaps are

You are 100% correct! I obviously don’t do this very often. But when I added some wedges the same color as the walls it is not noticeable. 😎

I just build all my corners at a 91 and say fuck after a level 5 drywall finish. Good enough.

I bumped the wall some in the corner where the counter was hitting. Moved it maybe a 1/4”. Then I made some long shims with my circular saw. I put them in the gaps and painted them the same color of the wall. Looks ok. Then, since I moved the wall back a little by hitting it, gap was too big by stove! ☹️. So I got a countertop shim from the business I bought it from to go on end of countertop. I would send a picture but cannot here. Frank. carrotcake1955@gmail.com

Well. Got it fixed best I could. A few wedges between countertop and wall to fill gaps…painted color of wall. Now not noticeable.
