Me being from Georgia it was great to see ASW in this video. I have 12 different bottles from ASW and they are great. If you can not find something you like from ASW with all of their different expressions you probably shouldn't be drinking!!! I currently am in love with Soloist, Georgia Heartwood, and Druid Hill.

Toured the Detroit City Distillery a couple weeks ago and had a taste of a 3 year rye the tour guide pulled from behind the bar that was delishous. Some of thier best is still aging so keep an eye on them over the next couple years. Butcher's Cut bourbon single barrels are starting to get good and I cant wait for thoughs rye barrels to get released as store picks. 😋

I ordered a bottle of Leipers based on this video and I love it. I am NOT an ) an expert and I have no bone fides in terms of tasting, he’ll I don’t even know what I’m doing, but I have drunk my share of bourbon (and red wine) over the years, and here are initial thoughts on my first pour of the Leipers: toasted marshmallows; slightly burnt peanut brittle; cardboard?; vanilla, definitely; toasted, chocolate fudge Pop Tarts. Delicious.

The Driftless Glen has a decent bourbon, their Rye is not as good as I had hoped. North Carolina has some decent selections with the Southern Star and Conviction brands. The Southern Star is a high rye bourbon,it’s a little pricey, but very drinkable . For a bourbon aged less than 2 years, the Conviction is surprisingly good, their Double Oak is really good.

I have always said the true whiskey flex isnt pappy or btac but is finding that gem of a bottle from that small distillery that either has only very small distribution area or only sells out of the distillery itself. Just search distillery near me or by your state and start driving! Its really fun and you can get some amazing stuff! I did that and literally found one 10 minutes away i never heard of in orlando of all places.

So glad to see Frey Ranch get a shout out here! As a Northern Nevada resident I was fortunate to take a drive out to the ranch last month and was not disappointed. They are currently offering complimentary tours and tastings and after having visited the distillery it really sparked an interest in bourbon for me. Love to see the sustainability and true farm-to-glass operation from them as well.

Cedar Ridge was a good call. They make an excellent wheat whiskey that is really bready and a lot more flavorful than Bernheim's, and their malted rye whiskey is an unusual product that actually tastes very good and is not just a novelty whiskey, which is frequently what I feel is a shortcoming with some of the oddball whiskies put out by Koval and other craft distillers.

No offense to M&D, but I am so sick of hearing the marketing term "Small Batch". It means nothing, and either the juice is good or not. I really don't care how big the batch is as long as it tastes good. Oh, and every type of bottle of OYO I've had have been disgusting. Sorry, just my opinion. I haven't tried Middle West yet, but with my history of OYO, I probably won't.
@TheMashandDrum

I didn't like OYO either at first. Since the rebrand and there stuff getting older it's gotten alot better. Yeah and small batch isn't going anywhere...you can say the same for barrel proof. No technical term either. You can still water down barrel proof.

Literally got my shipment notification from Frey Ranch this morning for both core bottles...excited! Toured Still Austin in November (it has a great parking lot neighbor in St. Elmo Brewery, a fave of mine)...love the Cask Strength, but so far, I am the contrarian that may prefer the Straight Bourbon to it...but I will keep testing. I normally am not a huge fan of Texas whiskey, but I love both bottles. I still need to try Iron Root Harbinger, but it can be hard to track down.

I just opened a bottle of the law's house Sam is oz house Saint Louis straight rye and I have to be honest I was disappointed the material actually was good but the new make characteristic was still dominant which of course is not pleasant and simply was not aged enough anymore than the new make a malted barley used for scotch is pleasant and it's always a disappointment when elements of that Is characteristic or still present in the material that supposedly has been properly age. It's not sure if the law's house 6 year rye has completed the aging process since I have not tried that expression....fingers crossed

I've only had Frey Ranch. Actually it's a barrel proof store pick, 5yr 126.36%abv. The oak notes are impressive for the age\youth. Yes it's a little hot but once you get past that it's a solid BP bourbon. Would love to try this with another 3-5yrs age on it. I've seen some Driftless Glenn Rye store picks I'd like to try. But I've not seen any of these other whiskeys in NorCal. One of our local breweries, Bear Republic (Racer 5 IPA), apparently has a 12yr bourbon they've been working on! I live about 10 minutes from Redwood Empire but that cats already out of the bag! Cheers!
