Bro. You got a great garage. But you need to spend a weekend getting it organized to give you more room. Great review. I just bought that trimmer today

I'm looking at getting that exact model as your new Craftsman. Seems like a good trimmer. You just have to maintain them properly and don't abuse them. Oh and also use the correct fuel in it. No more than 10% ethanol. Great Video.

It takes 10 pulls to start even if the engine is hot or pay the extra 50$ for the external starter. I am looking for a 5 point Allen to start the engine with a battery drill

I had the TroyBilt Trimmer 12 yrs. Simple maintenance kept it strong. I was told I got my monies worth out of it for 12 years. Now time for a new one. I am looking at that same Craftsman in the video. Doesn't the Craftsman recommend Ethanol-free fuel on the 4 cycle? Thanks.

Yes I think most of the manufacturers recommend ethanol free fuel. Personally I have zero issues using regular gas so far.

You need a new coil. When it heats up it grounds out finding a shorter route. The line is 14 years old. It deteriorate.

How's this holding up for you? I currently have a Troy-Bilt TB685EC (a little under $200) which is actually made by MTD. MTD builds the engines for many other brands including Craftsman. The engine runs great and is powerful but there's a serious design flaw where the pull string stops catching the flywheel. There's no repair kit for it. Instead you have to replace the flywheel and oil pan assembly ($30ish part) The one you have there I saw in Lowes last night and was eyeballing it. It seems like a much better design overall and is probably safe to hang vertically without oil dripping out like my current one. I imagine the pull string in front of the engine rather than behind is probably a better design too.

Thanks Tazz. I'm deciding whether Craftsman 4 cycle $199-$299 or 4 cycle Troybuilt $119. Is it a brand thing or is the Craftsman better?

Oh boy! I wish I could answer that. I have both products, a Troybiult 4 stroke weed trimner and the Craftsman lawn edger. The weed trimmer is 15 years old and still going strong, and the lawn edger if it weren't for the engine leaking oil which I think is an isolated incident. They are both great products in my opinion! I can't speak for the newer products tho. All I can suggest is look at the review's and make the best decision. I did buy a new Craftsman 4 stroke weed trimner and if you dont look at it wile you use it is sounds and feels just like the Troybiult. Hopefully this is a good thing cause I love my Troybiult!! Hope this helps, Thank you for talking the time to visit my channel.

They're most likely built in the same factory. Had a Craftsman 30cc model that I believe was made by Murray. Yours lasted 14 yrs, mine lasted 1 yr. Returned it and the replacement lasted 1.5 months. Returned it and that replacement lasted 1 month. The starters wouldn't mesh-up with the pull cord and all it would do it free-spool. Sears refused to replace the 3rd one despite the 2yr warranty. A locally owned Sears store replaced it for me with a newer model with a 31cc engine with no problem. The next one I buy will be a Husqvarna since all the shaft attachments that I have will mate up just the same.

So I went with the more expensive craftsman $239. It is a more commercial user trimmer that has an aluminum shaft rather than steel. The handle also has rubber cushioning and also padded shoulder strap. I really like it.

So far so great! I never have to run any of my 4 cycle line trimmers at wide open throttle. 1/2 or less has always been plenty of power to get the job done. The craftsman has a little bigger engine then the Troybiult but I can't tell if it has more power yet, it's still fairly new and will not run wide open just yet. But still has more than enough power and torque to destroy stuff.

I have this exact trimmer, and I think it's garbage. Just 3 years and the clutch has died, and I hate the head, so hard to load line, and it jams all the time. I may look at a more premium brand, or try to fix this pos, and get a few more years out of it, but not impressed at all.

What a peace of garbage. You know some of them trimmers have plastic cam shafts in them, try a sthil and you will never go back to anything else. My last sthil trimmer was over 20 years old finally gave it away to upgrade. Plus American assembled and engineered made to last.
