Growing up we didn't put up the Cmas tree until after my dad's bday (Dec 5th) but after getting married & having a couple kids of my own, we put the tree up on Nov 1st (HUBBY asked that year if we could do it early!) but agreed to wait for decorating until Dec! The greenery added a wintery feel & was a nice transition from Halloween to Cmas!

What a blessing it is for you to live so close to your parents so your children can enjoy them! I’m jealous as my parents passed away in their mid-50s early 60s so unfortunately I wasn’t able to share the memories you get to be making. Love the idea of homesteading… I grew up in the Midwest /South Dakota and we had a Very large garden and raise chickens. Those were good times! Happy Fall to you and your family

It’s finally starting to heat up here in Melbourne, Australia, after a seemingly never ending winter. We have just come out of some of the strictest COVID restrictions in the world, where you could only leave the house for 4 reasons (groceries - one person per household only, medical, caring for relatives or for work - but only essential work and you needed a government approved permit) so to be able to sit and feel the warmth from the rays of sun streaming onto my face yesterday, was the most mammoth sized, and much needed blessing (it’s currently just after 5am here and I have no idea why I’m awake, so thank you for keeping my company!) I’m very much looking forward to seeing my family when our 25km radius restrictions are dropped in one week - I haven’t seen them since my Papa’s funeral in July ❤️ also, the squirrel made me way too excited! We don’t have them down here! Your mum’s homestead is gorgeous!

We (I'm in Germany) put our tree up on the morning of Christmas Eve so the decorating is part of our traditional preparations for that day and everyone can participate. The colors for the (real) tree for us are always red and accents of gold . The rest of the Christmas decorations I bring out in the end of November. The tree stays up until January 6th. I love Christmas time but I don't think I could look at that stuff for weeks or months. This way there is always a pleasant anticipation for the tree decorating

We put the Christmas tree up kind of late, because we always wait until after Sinterklaas (6 december). It's a tradition in Belgium, and even though it's a kids thing and we don't get presents anymore, we do still get some chocolate (part of the tradition, you should see all the chocolates in the stores and bakeries around that time 😍). Last year though, mom put up the tree before Sinterklaas and we were not having it 😂

Hi from in between showers and sunshine from the Netherlands! Because we also have Sinterklaas on the 5th of December, you are not supposed to mix that with Christmas. Sinterklaas is a celebration for kids, mostly. So the Christmas tree doesn't go up untill after that. But, not every Dutch person celebrates Sinterklaas, so those people put it up sooner. :)

I say do the tree! I put it up last year earlier than I ever have. (The weekend before thanksgiving) and I didn't regret it, but I was ready for it to go after Christmas like usual! ha. Also, it is rainy and grey here today and I have been in a sad/bad mood. I decided to turn on Christmas music (which I never do until at least November). It TOTALLY changed my mood! So if the tree brings you joy, do it! :)
