William Allison Id love that video! Although periphery themselves talk about their gear a lot, you kind of have sound like videos in themselves. Still it would be really interesting seeing Bea and Matt try to replicate those tones on a budget and with their own spin on it. A sound like Karnivool would be sick too

Yeah right? I just can't be sold on a second class instrument built in China no matter how it was amazingly made and in Canada quality checked for the price of a genuine US made or hier Canada for Dingwall, and just how you already said for the same price you can get an amazing musicman that sounds to my liking even better and have one of the best sounding B-strings

My Bongo (4 string, ebony fingerboard) cost me 1770 USD$ brand new but i didn't have to ship international. I DEFINITELY want one of these bad boys but I think the only reason to really get it is that darkglass preamp and the fanned frets/bridge. It's worth it to some people and not to others but the low B on Bongos is truly a work of magic.
@evanwilliamsss

The low b on the bongos is insanely tight but the slap is kinda part of that dingwall sound. Also, the bongos realllyyy look like toilet seats tbh

Same quality as any overpriced Musicman or Warwick.The Dingwall is an excellent instrument. I got a Ng3-6 to replace my Thumb bass 6. Beautiful action, Fully adjustable bridge. Weighs 4 kilos. The perfect tension on each string. A massive sounding B, E and A. The C string is clear and loud. And in Australia it cost me $1000 dollars less than A Bongo 6. And here in Australia, "Genuine, made in the US" Doesn't mean shit.

Still not convinced by these, they’re a lot of money and you could probably pay a bit more for a Stingray or a Bongo, or a lot less for an ibby BTB or one of their new fanned fret jobs. It’s a matter of taste and personal opinion but I tried one of these next to an MTD Kington and preferred the Kingston. If you had real money then a Canadian made Dingwall is no choice at all, they’re magnificent.
@AaHo0102
4 жыл бұрын
It really comes down to the pickup position for the modern "djenty" low tuned bass. The Dingwalls having the soapbars right next to each other gives you a giant humbucking tone not found in other bases. The musicman humbuckers are close but the Dingwalls are like they are on steroids.
@xplanet2112
4 жыл бұрын
Aaron Hooper you’re absolutely spot on and of course the scale length of these things is necessary for the low tuning, they really are the bass of choice for that kind of music. I hope to make a purchase of either an NG3 or a Music Man when all this is over but I think when I try them both I will prefer the Music Man. I’m also getting old so the Dingwall might not suit an old man 😂
