Good insight, I’m planning to be a trucker myself. I’ve been watching a lot of videos. Good to see a positive review.

Hello, I am glad I found your video.. I got my class A back in January and been having trouble finding a job on my own. Over at my trucking school, schneider was one of the the recruiters (as well as swift 😉) and a few others. May i ask, does schneider offer this type of training for local drivers? And does schneider give you the option of who to haul for? Thank you for your time and your video.

OneAndDone yes it’s my understanding that all drivers with less than 3 months experience go to the closest OC for New Driver Training, which is a 3 week commitment. 2 weeks at the OC with assigned instructors and then 5-7 days with a Training Engineer (TE) on the account you’ve been hired into. The specific account you get hired for depends on what’s available within a specific radius near where you live. I brought a friend over to Schneider and he got hired onto a local dedicated account b/c he lived near their distribution center. So, you’ll need to talk to recruiter to see what’s available. Here’s my recruiter’s info: ReckelbergS@schneider.com (Sara) Tell her Eddie Nathan, driver # 1105613, referred you. She’ll help you out. Good luck! And email me if you have other questions: zentrekker9211@gmail.com

Have a question for you why you didn't stay Swift?
@thezentrucker

Well…the short answer is I did not have a productive experience with my mentor/trainer at Swift. If you’re interested in details, I did post a video about the experience. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sWeFvKiNapd_fYI

hello zen trekker, found your video very informative. I have my orientation with Schneider is in 2 weeks for the dollar general account and I'm very excited to get out there. if you don't mind me asking sir, what did your first pay check look like when you started driving by yourself?
@thezentrucker

christian s honestly, I don’t remember. The first month or 2, I was focusing on figuring things out...trip planning, unloading efficiently, working my clock, etc. Once I had all the basics figured out, I was making anywhere from $1100-1400 each week. Sometimes I’d push hard, do an extra run, work a 6th day and make more. Sometimes I’d get back after 4 days and take a long weekend, but make less.

Are there trucks equipped with gps units or you gotta buy one??
@thezentrucker
3 жыл бұрын
They have gps on the tablets in the truck. But the in truck gps kinda sucks. I always run Google Maps through my phone when I’m driving. I only run the truck gps to get lowdown on restricted roads. You should also download a trucker app that gives you all the truckstops, parking areas, scales, etc.

@@thezentrucker How much can I average a week if I'm rookie running regional not going home for at least 3 weeks and by the way is it true that the freight is slower during the winter time until April??? Also how do u feel about driving in the snow and do they force u to run in adverse weather conditions???
@thezentrucker

Omar H all depends on the company, how busy they keep you, how hard you run, etc. Some companies like JB Hunt and Schneider really respect drivers, other companies try to bully their drivers. Just remember...you’re the captain of your ship. You decide when it’s safe or unsafe for you to drive. If you don’t feel safe, you feel tired, you feel sick, whatever...find a safe place to park and wait till you’re ready and conditions feel safe to you. If your company doesn’t respect that, find another company that does. End of day, it’s just freight. No freight is worth your life, bro.

Amber B true OTR is generally no touch. This gig is, technically, dedicated regional. In my case, I ran out of SoCal and delivered to SW 6 plus Oregon. Many of Schneider’s dedicated accounts require driver unload. Good news is unloading = $$. 😁

@@eddienathan9871 haha that's great to hear! I'm new to this field as I just finished cdl school, and I think I'm going to try Schneider, but I'm probably just going to go otr for at least a year to get some experience and then hopefully I can go local lol thanks for the info!!
@thezentrucker

Amber B Schneider’s got great new driver training. But OTR is not their wheelhouse. See if you can get on a dedicated regional account with them...though, I’m not sure if they have no touch regional accounts. They also have pretty solid intermodal, which you could do regional I think. Trust me, regional will still get you lots of miles and with Schneider it will keep you rolling. OTR company drivers with them do a lot of waiting between loads.
@SniperG_adam

@@thezentrucker thank you for the info I'm definitely going to check out that instead of otr because I wouldn't want to have to wait lol. When unloading with a dedicated regional account are you using a jack or unloading by hand? And is intermodal almost the same thing as local where you are definitely home every night?
@thezentrucker
4 жыл бұрын
Amber B unloading depends on the account. Sometimes it’s with pallet jack, sometimes by hand. Intermodal means working out of the railyards. You deliver pre-loaded containers either from the rail to a customer or from customer to rail. Most Intermodal divisions have both local and regional drivers.

Between Werner and Schneider they both not the best. But I went with Werner since the pay is way better. Originally Schneider was paying .41 cent a mile while Werner is paying me .51 cents a mile. Both suck so like I said comes down to pay. And also a lot of these companies your basically doing it for the experience than most drivers bail after 6 months even a year for sure.

Yessir. I did 6 mos. then went to JB Hunt - local intermodal. Been here since Aug 2019.
