It's not a version 2 of the gimbal. The hardware is identical to the original release. This version just comes with version 2 of the manual, and the new 1.54 firmware which added the timelapse feature among other changes.

Ok, I See your point, but there is the added feature of the trigger button on the opposite side of the gimbal which was not on the first version released. Am I correct in this? From research I don't see it on the older version. Here a review of the older version and it clearly does not show the trigger button. www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/08/feiyu-tech-g5-gimbal-depth-review.html Added features in my opinion mean new version/model, but I will alter the video title to avoid any further confusion. I am truly sorry if you felt misled by my description.

Hi Jeff, nice video. Two questions. If you have the GoPro crharge cable attached to the gimbal, and plug the gimbal in to charge, will it charge botht he gimbal and GoPro at the same time? So at the end of a session you can plug it in and have both ready to go? Also can you start and stop video from the gimbal or do you have to start/stop from the camera?

Hi Jason and thank you. I do not know the answer to your first question, but now I am wanting to know. I will go home and check this out tonight and let you know. I have always just brought spare batteries and swapped them out when needed. As for your second question, there aren't any controls for the camera on the gimbal itself. You start and stop the camera with the buttons on the camera. I hope this helps and I will let you know what I find out about the charging question!

Hi Jeff, thanks again for the video. A week ago a I asked you if you have any head angle shifting when you raise your arm? I am looking to buy the GoPro 6 and this gimbal and I want to make sure it's an improvement over the G4 GS. As a tip, get the extension bar, you can get nice crane shots. At minute 13:50, when you start walking, I hear a loud background noise. What was that? The motors?
@jeffb9371
6 жыл бұрын
Callatianon, I apologize for not responding sooner. I have had a busy week. Yes, I believe that was the motor, but the instructions with the gimbal said to use it with audio set to wind only in Protune audio settings. Watch the video at 15:15 mark and you will see where I switch the audio settings from stereo to wind only and there is a huge difference with motor noise! I can't say that I have noticed any shifting of the angle when I raise my arm using the gimbal. I am pleased with what this gimbal can do. I am going to put a link to my other video in here for you that shows me using it on a train ride and in the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde. You can see how well it works and there are a few shots where I go from the ground and raise it up over my head and you can see if you notice any angle or pitch change. I have the extension pole for this and if you watch this next video you will see where I stuck it up over the roof of the train car I was in and then hung it down outside the train car near the tracks! Isn't technology great?! Here is a link to the follow up video for this one. I hope this helps! kzitem.info/news/bejne/uYR_tIuwcauioqg

I see it and I believe I know what that was. To get the camera to flip to the position I need it to be in a certain position to shoot the way I was, I think is different than what is probably considered "normal" positioning for the camera on the gimbal and I think it actually made contact with the mounting arm that gave it jar. It is kind of hard to explain. I was holding the gimbal straight down in front of me and the camera was sitting back in the crook of the mounting arm facing forward and I believe I had issues with it hesitating or jarring cause it was having trouble with the angle of placement of the camera. I know I am probably not making any sense.

callatianon, I have just purchased the g5 v2 and have significant shifting/stepping in the tilt axis when making small adjustments using the joystick and in 'all follow' mode. Doesn't happen when making larger adjustments or when it is keeping the horizon locked in 'panning follow' mode. I am guessing it's in the firmware as it happens in all positions. Tweaking the motor speed and dynamics with the app only seems to make it worse. Hopefully they fix it with an update, it's annoying as hell.
@callatianon
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your feedback! With mine, I feel a bump in the motors when the shifting happens. Like a mechanical issue but it's all brushless, I don't know why it's doing that. I had to put few markers with yellow electrical tapes on the motors to know when to stop the tilt.

Stephan Pieterse To the best of my knowledge the differences are the fact that the V2 has a trigger button on the opposite side of the main controls that allows you to lock the gimbal in place as long as you press it. It also has some thing cotton or felt in the camera mount itself to help with muffling the motor noise of the gimbal. Also, there is updated firmware I believe. I would say it is the new one. If you look at it closely, the one on their website has the trigger key button. If you look at the link to the review from dcrainmaker I posted that one does not have the trigger key button. If you look at the other videos on You Tube, it would seem none of them have the trigger key buton either. So, I would say the one on their site is the latest version. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Jeff B Why do take my observation personally? It is about the gimbal. I also do not understand what "tour" shots you are talking about. In your follow up video the walking shots are smoother.
