Ash dieback is an invasive disease that is causing great damage to ash trees in Ireland and is likely to continue doing so in the following decades.
Together with research on management practices to mitigate the effect of ash dieback, Teagasc has a line of research with a focus on ash trees with the objective:
to understand better the disease,
to find natural resistance and
to use it to run a breeding programme.
This presentation by Dr Miguel Nemesio-Gorriz in November 2020 discusses the findings of three studies carried out by Teagasc since 2017.
