This is another video in my series “New Forest Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit Ashley Walk & Pitts Wood (2 miles East of Fordingbridge) and explore the surrounding area.
My three mile (approx) circular walk starts at the Forestry Commission car park at Ashley Walk, just off the B3078 (Roger Penny Way). I initially head South down a gravel track known as Snake Road towards Ditchend Brook - which is bone dry this time of year. After catching sight on a young foal, I continue South up Cockley Hill towards Hive Garn Bottom before dropping down into the area were the old Groomkeeper's jouse (Ashley Lodge) was once located.
My route then takes me alongside Pitts Wood and at it's most South Easterly point, I head Westwards through the enclosure before eventually turning back towards my starting point.
I was filming in mid June and although the sun was out(indeed the it was very warm & humid), there were times when it clouded over which did have an affect on my Gopro camera (which is notoriously bad in poor light!).
At the end of the video, I have included some film footage of my new puppy “Fiver” and his first walk in the New Forest.
