You're not kidding about the rain in NJ. It feels like it's been raining for nearly 2 years straight at this point. Recently I compared the rain we received in the last year against the 100 year average and we are about 3x that right now (maybe even more). Clayton park looks pretty sweet. I'm surprised I've never heard of it considering it's only about 45 minutes away. I'm gonna wait till it dries out before I check it out.

It really is a great place to ride and they work on it pretty regular, always improving it.

That new frame looks rad. It's absolutely dumping rain in PA right now. Can't wait to bust out my bike and head around Colyer when it dries up!

This bike would do well at Colyer and I think it could definitely dominate the rattlesnake Trail!

I see you got your editor at work, nice! You are moving pretty fast, looks fun. Yeah, the weather situation in nj lately is wacky! Great to see you one here

It was definitely fast for the conditions anyway! Yeah, my daughter‘s back editing again for me. It just takes some creative time adjustments.

3:26 Shorter chain stay will give more grip on ice as there's more weight on the axle, but will make it easier to flick, but longer more resistant to flick, losing control, more stable and easier to control a slide.

Just like every dimension on a bike frame there are pros and cons to each thing, but I think for the way I use the bike the slightly longer change stay compared to some other frames is an advantage, but being shorter than the Lotus means I can turn it a little quicker

@@theshedMTB Cornering technique also matters, I tend to lean the bike, just like the pros, not when riding relaxed and easy turns, but when I ride at high speed I lean the bike, mine is 445mm I think so much longer, but still can corner it well, but when the rear slides on roots and loose or muddy terrain I like the long chain stays, But I do notice lack of grip on ice, but then I just sit further back on the saddle.

It was really a decent price and really good geometry. I’m pretty happy with it already. Little heavier than would’ve liked though.

I'm scared of Polygon, I've seen several models have cracked,, some at top tube in front of the head tube on the xc bike, the chain stay close to the chain ring, I think that was newer mode of trail bike, near the seat tube gusset, those were the trail bikes with the weird steep gusset, which they changed, it was a stress riser. There's a group called something like Polygon cracked frame support group. So it will be interesting how this one holds up.

This is my second polygon, and I was pretty happy with the first one, but I have heard about the rear triangle cracking on some of them before I paid for the frame. It was worth the risk.

The new bike looks rad, did you have to swap out the rear shock?
@theshedMTB
2 ай бұрын
Rear shock was originally a 190-51 and the one on the lotus was a 190-50 so with the ratio I lost about 2 mm of travel I can live with that for now!

I have a 2017ish Rockshox Monarch 190x51mm that I would be happy to send you, if you can use it. It's just collecting dust in my garage.
