Looks like @Insym has a big influence on "Bureau of Contacts" development - the limit on spirital requests has been removed completely, tutorial videos are being published (especially on the thermometer and EMF), and the in-game tutorial is in the process of being updated.

You know what would be cool? be able to choose whether to play with Stephanie or with Conrad and have different reactions with the ghosts, but to be able to play with Conrad, you have to have finished the campaign first with Stephanie :D, also be able to play the campaigns with the two characters in Co-op :D, it may be something for later in the development of the game hehe

I love the idea of this game. I always felt this kinda stuff was missing from Phasmo and other games haven't really been able to measure up. Hopefully the devs can polish the game up, get rid of a lot of the tedious stuff, and really nail it down. The nice thing is that it enables you to have a 'story' of sorts that can be constantly updated over the lifetime of the game with each different ghost.

I came up with a game idea. Kinda a love child between Shadows of Doubt and Conrad. Basicaly, there is a city and a city has two realms: the realm of the living and the realm of the dead (shadow realm). You are a detective with medium abilities that can obtain information from both sides. There will be random murders happening in the city and first you will need to collect information in the living realm (explore the crime scene, the body, etc). Sometimes in the shadow realm you might find a random spirit that happened to vitness the crime. Ask him what he saw. After that you must learn more about the victim to figure out where his ghost is since he will not be at the crime scene (what the person was particularly atached to in life like if he was a workaholic his ghost might start hunting his working space). After finding the ghost of the victim and learning more information from him about the killer find the killer and arrest him. Something like that

Loved CSPPI! Glad to see another one in the series. Some thoughts: -At this point, how would the player not brute force the answer by connecting the given room and the causes of deaths written in the obituaries? (Without even stepping into the ghost room it seems like you could easily narrow it down to one or two.) -Would love to see the tutorial narrated by Conrad, like a step-by-step on a recorded message. Maybe to make it more realistic, notes taken at a Paranormal conference. (I wrote this before Insym stated his thoughts, which his NPC Conrad would also be a great idea.) -I think it would be nice if some of the equipment didn't need to be juggled. Perhaps combine the recorder and spirit box?
@littlebear274
3 ай бұрын
Sure, you could brute force it. But it's a single player game. If you're buying a game that isn't competitive just to brute force the answer you're only cheating yourself, really. The whole point of a single player game is the experience.

I'm so excited for the CSPPI sequel! The dev is one of the few indie devs that delivers on promises, accepts player feedback, and has creativity in spades. I do agree with Insym on having a guided tutorial with Conrad, even if it's just over comms. Breaking the tutorial down into small steps and letting you learn by doing is always the most effective way to teach the player imho. I admit I'm a little worried about the random generation aspect. It will make it more replayable than Conrad for sure but CSPPI's strongest point was how detailed and interesting the ghost stories were.

I feel like a tutorial with Conrad is a really good idea. I don't mind the pop-up route personally but there should be a button to close it not automatically after two seconds. There should be a way to zoom into the video camera screen with a button or scroll wheel because going between the two devices to get a better look is definitely tedious.

Feed back (I think thats everything I got for the time being) 1- too much text: you can do what insym said for the tutorial instead 2- subtitles for everything 3- theghost sound like he chocking on something, you want the audio to sink in the player's mind so its best to make it more clear 4- clearer mc voice lines 5- need more lightning for the map 6- the dot detector needs to be brighter and clearer 7- make a simpler UI 8- the video evidence navigation think about you going through your videos on your phone

Very cool game, I like its design and gameplay, very unique. However, there’s a few things that could be changed, like how slow the mechanics are. The video camera deleting and uploading only one file at a time, the inventory bag and also the fact you can’t drop items, the tutorial texts spams and how annoying that is, the fact that the game has too many info and it can cause a certain boredom or laziness to play. It’s full of info, like, too many info, maybe. The dev can check these aspects. Also, I personally think that asking the ghost with your own mic should be very cool, and you could see which questions are available, or use a text option like Phasmo does.

Should be easier since they have the VR version as framework. Would save set up time and be more efficient+ immersive. " Go play a ghost game that does then! " says some with so called arguments. I say NO, will sticking with Phasmophobia because it has potentiale dumdum . If it gets " easier " Compensate with more frightening Horror 2.0 and deeper more spooky random gameplay or something

The pacing and setup of the game, so far, doesn't feel as immersive as CSPPI. With CSPPI, it felt like you really had to put effort into learning about the ghost and their story and were rewarded with the evidence. AtW:P feels somewhat of the opposite. You already have everything, you're just there to get some pictures, and there's no feeling of needing to connect with the spirit or feel invested in their story. Obviously this is just an infant game so there's a lot of work to do, but I hope that aspect of investment finds its way back in. I was considering how to help with the equipment shuffling. Maybe the dev could implement hot keys to change your 'hand' loadout. So pressing "1" equips the recorder and parabolic mic, etc etc depending on how you bind them.

The gameplay is too slow. It was okayish with Conrad because you discovered the Lore during your investigation; here it's a dynamic ghost, so the player doesn't really care about the Lore much. The game needs more "punch" to be fun to play, with more subtle hints, things to test, rituals, etc. It has to be a real investigation, and not just a waiting game. I see a prototype of this, with the ghost types and their varied effects on EMF and Temperature, but this isn't enough.

Watching Insym play your game is super valuable to game devs because he can articulate so well what does and doesn't work with game design. I've learned a fair bit about game analysis myself from watching him talk about ways to improve what he's playing. (As an aside, the "wah, this game is copying phasmo" conversation in chat at 1:30:00 ish is interesting to me just because the person admitted they weren't familiar with Conrad. I've long felt that most claims that a game is "copying" come from people who simply don't know the genre they're talking about, so they think the one or two games they do know about are the main examples and anything vaguely similar must be cheap imitations. Knowing what you don't know is a skill people would probably do well to improve on considering how hilariously cringe being "confidently wrong" can be.)

For the second ghost, I think Insym just used words that where not supper fitting for this type. The Smudge Stick was working but he keeps selecting the ember-speeches with the ear. The ghost however did not make much or any noises at all. If I recall correctly, there also was one with a eye symbol. This might have lured him out better and show him doing different actions. Also in the beginning while he was just a cloud, there was a video clip where he swalloed(?) something and then grabbed his throat. This one again, while better visible, would have helped to solve the case quicker I think. I think thats just a game that gets easier with experience how the different ghosts work.

This is what I love, a ghost game dedicated more to the investigation. I love Phasmo but a slow paced investigation where you can really sink your teeth into it is huge, the only thing with Phasmo that I dislike is the hunt mechanic, but that's purely because I like to take my time and investigate, just not quite the game I'm after! Exciting to see what this brings, I think procedural generation will be a game changer, but I also think it requires tweaking to still make sure the experience keeps that unique feeling. I also think the "stamina-esque" system will need to grow on me, I don't really understand it /yet/ but I haven't played it myself. I think a "knowledge-base" system for players to refer to so if they miss the tutorial or need a recap, would be great, but I agree with Insym, if I have to sit and read loads of information I struggle to get settled into the game. I want to learn with the action instead of having to try to remember. Maybe that first investigation could be more interactive and utilize Conrad's voice, Insym summed it up well. Be able to bring the camera closer to the player character to see more clearly. But being able to upload the footage and review it, is SICK. I think be able to do more than one so you can "cool down" for a few minutes if activity explodes and you can take your time reviewing the footage. If there isn't a discord for the game/dev, I think it would be a great addition so future players can start community building and pitching ideas. I loved Conrad Stevensons but I wanted more replayability, which I think this will provide. You'd also allow players to feel like they're directly contributing and might get some cool new ideas too.
