You do not have to be pale to wear anything or be apart of a subculture/alt group.

I’m pretty sure you didn’t mention it in this video but this style was definitely created/inspired by Ano when she debuted for her idol group “YOU’LL MELT MORE” in 2013. She was the sky blue member for her idol group and though it was different from what the style is now, you can definitely see the influence from her in her outfits worn during her idol group era. She started her solo career in 2020 which I think could be a partially factor into why the style blew up even though it probably started year or two before 2020. 2020 was also when the pandemic happened like you mentioned and people had to stay inside which also adds to why this style became popular. Also, 2020 in the west was the boom of y2k/early 2000s style trending and that probably also made its way over to japan and the Heisei era is also trendy rn in Japan I believe! So, there is a lot of reasons for why this style is trending in Japan and it makes a lot of sense why.

I see a few people have said it, however im going to take the time to explain the problem with “you have to be pale to do this fashion.” No matter what kind of fashion or clothing, skin color has nothing to do with it. Harajuku Fashion is just like any other theme of clothing and attire. Skin color has nothing to do with it. Black, white, brown, crème etc can wear anything if they want to. The rhetoric of “you have to pale” is often a racist remark to attempt to restrain people of color of what they want to do, because its associate with white folk even though it can be done by anyone of any race. It’s just unneeded gatekeeping because in the end, its fashion, and clothing that everyone should have the right to wear and style in. Hopefully this helps explaining everything and everyone can learn from this message

@@CapsuleBunny people can still use why color make up, especially if it fits with what they want to look. I get your intent, but I just wanted to educate you is all. I don’t know anything about that last bit but I’m just taking the pale comment, that is all.

@@sky-trevishere9638 The “pale” is for instead of using a strong peach eyeshadow you would use a light peach one, it’s not about foundation. You can wear whatever eyeshadow you want but the idea is to look “robotic” which is why the skin color or foundation doesn’t matter because robots can be any color anyways, usually silver lol

In my hometown Sacramento California there are a lot of Catholic Schools Girls and they were a hounds tooth kilt and red sweater. I had a few friends and I received a big XXL black track jacket. It was very cozy to wear; however, I think it was ment for my friends. I left in Sacramento when I moved. I think the clothes you two display is right up those girls ally, and you both look cool in that fashion.

I was really having this feeling when I saw the style that I felt like: I have seen this before - but maybe it's because it does use a lot of elements of previous exisiting styles, but it just puts all of those element together in a new way perhaps? I reeaaalllyy like it! I could defo see my self wearing something like this! I have also always been very much a fan on brans like AC/DC rag and also Listen Flavor. So cute!

@Capsule Bunny thanks so much for responding I love your content so much ♡ also just wanna say pls be careful with how you use the word pale in context to jfashion. I know you were referring to your makeup, but that word can have negative connotations that can make poc feel excluded. I know in my heart that you believe jfash is for everyone, but it's also important to try to use language that reflects that too! In the future it might be better to say "soft look" or "light colored makeup" instead ♡ other than that just wanna say I really love this video and feel excited to try this style myself

I've recently started reaching for super oversized and baggy styles rather than my usual cute girly tight clothes. These outfits are the perfect blend of the cute with the baggy sporty style.

I had seen this style and didn’t know the name so it’s good to put a name to the images I have seen! It’s so true what you said about it being interesting how you can go for angel and get these two distinctive styles out of it from two different cultures. This colour pallet really suits you. The idea of comfy jfashion is so appealing as someone who wears Lolita I can’t lie. Do you know where the pink and black jacket Yumechi was wearing at the start is from? It’s so nice. Also I too struggle with left and right but I am right handed so that’s how I remind myself “I write with my right”.
