Randy, I’m surprised the MGB is showing poor numbers on your site. I live in Australia and that car, in that condition, is highly desirable. Most MGB’s here are rust buckets, yours looks to be in good condition overall. I’d definitely throw those S/u’s in the bin and swap them out for the Weber! I love the quality of the video on the new iPhone! Stop stuffing around with all of that other crap and just stick to the iPhone 👍👍. Fred.

Youre not aggressive enough on that MGs old single stage paint. It can be wet sanded (600) & buffed out with rubbing compound. Or, just a wool pad & rubbing compound will bring it back fully. Then a quality wax. A. Your battery is weak. B. The solenoid & starter need inspection C. The timing is likely off. D. Check your fuel pressure & filter. They came with a single side draft Stromberg = junk. Dual 1 3/4 HIF SUs, new intake, performance header & exhaust and it will be a completely different car. Ignition just needs a Pertronix kit. I've modified MGs for 40+ years.

When an engine turns over slow like that, it is the engine compression fighting against the starter. Maybe the timing chain has slipped or something in that system. The timing is definitely off. Take the plugs out to eliminate the compression and it should turn over freely.

When my truck turned over slow when warm like that it turned out to be a bad battery!
@mexicanspec
3 жыл бұрын
@@bobbrothers9572 I can see that. When the engine warms up the pistons expand and more juice is needed to turn it over. Generally there is a timing issue when it turns over slow because the compression is working against it turning over. I have never seen a starter act like this. Either a starter works or it doesn't. I have never seen one spin quickly at one point and slowly at another.

And now you don't watch! I personally love the content on each and everyone of these cars! They are being saved from the junkyard. They are unique, and thats why I love them! I'm much more excited by these than the car he just won. I'm still gonna watch every video, but it's a car a million people have rebuilt! Since you jump from one thing to another and spend a lot of time talking to the camera, then you are going to loose viewers. I am disappointed - but not surprised that the MGB content is not particularly popular with your american audience as it does not have a huge gas guzzling engine. When you do sell it, I hope you manage to find a true enthusiast for it. MGBs and the like are money pits but not as bad in the UK because parts are readily available and reasonably priced and they are loads of things you can do to tune them up or cake them handle better. Most are now owned by enthusiasts with money over here so a lot of them get pampered. I also get that they won't have as big a following in the US. Good plan on the new parts by the way. On the starter motor, you can take them apart and clean them and maybe change the brushes and they sometimes come back to life but you might as well get a new or rebuilt one. Shame the view numbers aren't good. This is good old fashioned car wrenching you don't see every day.

Not trying to be negative, but a little more advanced diagnostic tools would help the channel and would reduce part changes that don't solve the problem. $300 for a MG starter, when you bi-passed the solenoid I was thinking it was the starter just as you mentioned it. SU's are great, but they require regular tuning which is a pain. Spend $ on the exhaust. The sound will sell it. The AMC will be a club car for someone, so a fuel cell is a good work around and an easy fix.
