Just as a note, there can be quite a bit of variance in what you get from a certain jump in pack. So dont think just because you picked a certain jump in pack, that means you automatically get all the cards possible from said pack. In fact it might take you a few tries to get the whole thing.

You get 11 cards in each pack. 4 of them can be swapped out for alternatives. So the packs aren't always exactly the same. The alternatives are the ones I talk about in the sideboard section for each of the packs.

I wish they had kept the "current set only" format for jump in that they did for LoTR. As an established player, the older jump in packs don't do much for me. With older packs in the mix, it really makes it hard to farm this for WOE cards, which I guess is the reason behind the decision to go back to the old format. Thanks for going over the pack contents. The WOE pack lists on Wizards site is a hot mess.

So, for us newish players, Jump In is good value in the long run if you wish to build a collection, as each set has roughly .25-3 year lifespan left. Basically keep track of packets you open and select a new one each time. Once caught up, each set you play 5-10 games to get a Jump start on it. The variance each time you pick adds a little value to continuing if the mode is fun for you, but I assume the math tips heavier towards packs after each packet gets picked once.

You got it. After you've picked any particular pack a few times it starts to lose value and you're more likely to get a small amount of vault progress instead of actually getting new cards. If you've got 4x of any of the rares in the packs you might pick, you're likely to just get a few gems back instead of a new rare. There are also many cards that never see play in Constructed because they're just not powerful enough, so collecting as many cards as possible, might mean you end up with hundreds that you never actually use.

I use a spreadsheet to track the packs I’ve already picked in the past. On a sidenote, the jump in matches are a great way to grind those daily wins as everybody plays with preconstructed decks
@Arkavien

@@arduano7872 Yeah, I'd just been adding the names to a notepad on PC, but now use Planeswalker's Stronghold googledoc as well. Personally I alternate based on mood/daily color quests between a simple budget Alchemy RDW that withstood rotation and the starter deck duels (all colors available, and good training in different interactions). Jump In is like a step up as there's more difficult battlefield scenarios and more complicated cards in play. I prefer to pick my Jump ins based on unused packets and that googledoc's tier list for constructed card values from each.

@@arduano7872 Wouldn't exactly call them a great way to grind daily wins, since the matches tend to last very long in Jump In. They are great for practicing your overall skills and game knowledge though. If you just wanna go through matches fast, then I suggest just picking any meta aggro deck in historic or standard. I've managed to go through 25+ matches in less than half an hour with some of them. Thats usually enough for 10 wins, you don't really need to go for 15, the last 5 rewards don't give exp and aren't really worth the time.

Great video, helps a lot to understand min maxing / recognizing value in different ways. I just have to say that it would help a lot if you put some graphics / pictures / numbers to what you are talking about. There is a lot of terms (quickdraft, jumpin, rare, mythic etc etc) so i think that it would be easier to follow what you are saying if you put some graphics on the screen as you are talking about the topic. I got lost a lot of times trough the video with all those rares, 12 uncommon, 5 mythic, vault percentage etc. etc , that i had to rewind the topic multiple times to meet your pace. Just a small suggestion, thank your for your videos and time. BOL

Thanks for the feedback. It's always a difficult balance between explaining the fine details of everything for newer players and getting to the point quickly for more experienced players. You can't please everyone! If there's anything you think really wasn't clear enough, let me know and I can clarify it for you. I used to have more little graphics in videos but the editing takes a while longer. I'll see if I am able to add more of them in future videos.

Stfu about Alchemy ruining it. I'm so tired of seeing these comments. The only one(s) ruining the vibe of the game here is you. This still makes economical sense for you to do. There's literally one single alchemy set in a total of 10 sets. Stop complaining.

Jump-In doesn't count for Golden Packs at all, you have to buy packs from the store for them to count.

1:11:40 Fun fact, caught me by Surprise, did you know that if you disrupt the unit receiving the role, that the draw effect does not go off for this interaction? Card sucks because of this specifically, lmao. A shame too, it's a great flavor and should-be-use card, but rendered low use if the opponent has game knowledge and the ability to disrupt your board.

Do you mean for Witch's Mark, if they kill the creature you target for the Wicked role, you don't get the two cards? And presumably still discard the first one? I haven't seen that case come up, but I'm surprised if it works that way because that isn't how it sounds like it should work.

@@gameschooldadMTG You dont have to discard if the spell get fizzled. This is because unlike other similar cards, the discarding a card is not a cost of the card, its an effect that occurs as the spell resolves after the roles token gets placed.

It took me 2 weeks to figure out how to enter any of these draft events I can't believe how bad the UI is.I stumbled on to someone's video after searches did not net me the answer but yo uneed to setup all formats in your "ACCOUNT" geesh I'd never think of looking there. Having said that I followed the advice of many doing quick drafts and so far 3-0 but VERY disappointed.Like why are we doing brothers war during a WOD release again ..geeesh.Then the card pool i had to pick from was worse than atrocious I did not like any of the cards so WOTC must have th ecard selection manipulated to give us cheap chocies for that cheaper 5k gold. IDC if I got 7-0 I won't do another QD I want to actually get and play with some good cards.That Brothers War set much have been the most boring set release in the history of MTGA.

@gameschooldadMTG

You could do that, but there's a chance that you keep doing the Jump-In events and don't see the option to pick the rat deck. You're more likely to see it if you've previously picked the older packs in the event, so that would be one option. Otherwise, you might have enough wildcards to craft a budget-friendly version of the deck.
